We stayed 3 nights at Hostal Amalur and had a great time. The owners were really nice people and gave us a lot of help in planning our stay not just in Canoa, but travelling further up the coast. The rooms are nice and clean and come with mosquito nets, and the bathrooms have hot water. There is a lavenderia... More

My friends and I somewhat randomly ended up in Canoa for the weekend and stumbled across Hostel Amalur. While we didn't have reservations, and the hostel was pretty much booked up, the owners went out of their way to accommodate us and were so friendly and professional our entire stay! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food at... More

Amazing restaurant, incredible staff (Lorena and Diego, the owners, as well as their little girl Luna are truly one of a kind individuals!) and comfortable clean rooms! We were only going to be in Canoa for a few days but stayed for 12 because of these people and this place! We stayed in the rooms as well as one of... More

The hotel was great, a few blocks off the beach, a pretty good restaurant downstairs, a nice court year, comfortable rooms and reasonable prices ($25 dollars for a double room with private bathroom). However the shower was a disaster. The water pressure was awful and it took me half an hour to wash the shampoo out of my hair. On... More

I stayed in Canoa for seven nights at the Amalur Hostel. I am still not sure what the difference is, but the place was more like a hotel than a hostel. All of the rooms were privates with their own bathroom and it had a terrace complete with several hammocks and good views of the surrounding hills and the ocean.... More

I can't begin to express how much I liked the Hostal Amalur. I booked it on a whim when I was coming to Canoa without realizing it was Carnival week. The whole town filled up within 2 days. Initially the Hostal Amalur only had availability for 2 nights for me so I set out to find a new spot...I returned... More

My friends and I came to Canoa with only one nights reservation and ended up staying for a week. The owners were happy to accommodate us and even upgraded our rooms when their were extras available. They were very lovely people who spoke great English and were happy to accommodate all of our questions and even made great suggestions towards... More
