Once we had arrived at the Coco Loco we decided to extend our stay to 5 days. The owner was very nice and ensured we had the best value room for what was available. Although during our stay we realised that there was security risks with what I assume is the bag drop area (the bags stay in the unlocked... More

My girlfriend and I stayed about a week at the Coco Loco and it was everything we could have hoped for; economical, very friendly staff, great location, and a sassy American owner in all good meanings of the word. We would definitely recommend this to anyone! Big thanks to the delightful staff ladies, the awesome guard and of course to... More

Planned on spending a few days in Canoa but ended up staying 4 weeks. Coco Loco is ideally situated on the beach, with a laid back surfing vibe and has great staff and owner. Breakfast was really nice especially the bacon and eggs. They do some great BBQ nights as well. Canoa itself is friendly and there is great seafood... More

I traveled by myself and was given a dormitory room with a private bathroom. Costs 9$/night, not included breakfast. The location is great, but my main complaint is that the bathroom wasn't clean. I did ask them if they could clean it but nothing changed. Also, they didn't provide me with toilet paper, no soap, nor towel when I arrived.... More

I stayed here with a few friends and the initial impression was "This place seems awesome" but definitely needs some improvement. We had a private room on the main floor, the door technically did lock but the wooden blinds could easily be opened. Some people who had been there a few days before us had some of their belongings taken... More

Thank you for taking the time to write. We do provide lockers for every room and dorm bed to protect your valuables. The shower door is a five minute fix that if you would have let us know could have been taken care of immediately. The theft you refer to did not happen like it is implied. With a little... More

I loved this hostal! The staff was super friendly and we had a double bedroom on the first floor and it was not too noisy. Of course if you are planning on staying at a perfectly clean hostal it is not the right place, but normally backpackers will find it acceptably clean!

I stayed here for 3 nights in early June, the place is currently quiet during the week, though I gather from other backpackers who were here, it's rocking at the weekend. There were small solid wooden lockers in my dorm room so I was happy to leave my belongings there, and the room had a fan and was ensuite. Unusual... More

Stayed here just before Easter, the weekends the place is packed and during the week we were the only ones there. The common bathrooms could definitely be cleaner but the room was nice and the food was really good. The vibe in the evening is nice with lots of people showing up for drinks and pool. Location directly across from... More

The hostel did not have lockers, and the owner ended up stealing my clothes and underwear off of the line while they were drying. I asked her if she knew where they could have gone, and she avoided eye contact with me, left the hostel, and hid in a nearby bar until after I needed to catch my bus out... More

This is the most ridiculous review Ive ever read. Why on earth would I steal used underwear? There is a problem of things being taken off the clothesline, but there isnt much I can do about that. People hang their clothes to dry on the clothesline provided, I do not stand there all day watching to make sure no one... More

Hostal Coco Loco was the best part of our trip to Ecuador. In fact, it was so good they couldn't get us to leave!! We went back TWICE after we left originally... the first time we left to travel south down the coast in search of a new place to explore and surf, but when we got to our destination,... More
