A B&B with old world character, run by a couple full of life and character. The building dates back to the 16th century,so yes, it's old, but has a charm and a friendly feel as does the village and the people. We really appreciated the wonderful, hot shower at the end of a full day of "touristing", and the amazing coffee,... More

Steph and Giles are a lovely couple, as are all the people I came across in the village . Having just read "richardf"s review of the Plaine...I can't understand what he is bleating on about ! How he can say the B&B is the "Worst place he has ever stayed at"...is beyond me.... The towels were not "old and worn"....they... More

If you are thinking that this will provide you with a sort of boutique hotel experience just outside Bath, think again - this is a really tired B & B offering very poor accommodation at ridiculously high prices (they even have the gall to make you commit to two nights at weekends - we walked out after just one however).... We stayed here for one night and took advantage of the Longleat discount the guest house offers, ( really is a great saving). Steph and Giles we're really welcoming and gave good advice about the local area and served up a lovely breakfast. The guest house is easy to find and the village is very quaint served by two pubs.

Thank you very much to Giles for his warm welcome and his very lively comments on what to do and what to visit for a family of 5. We loved Norton St Philip, lovely village 10 minutes far from Bath. The pub (13th century and beautifully kept !)just in front really needs to be seen and serves a good average... More

We stayed here for two nights in February for my Husbands birthday. We have only always stayed in hotels previously and as we wanted to visit Longleat Safari park following other reviews we decided to stay at the Plaine Guesthouse. What a wonderful experience, Giles and Steph were wonderful and really made us welcome. We took our 18 month old... More

We stayed here for a night before going to Longleat Centerparcs with my parents, 2 children and our 2 King Charles Spaniels. What a warm welcome we had from Giles and Steph who helped us with the children and luggage from the car. Its in a pretty village with 2 lovely pubs opposite which also allow well behaved dogs so... We called the evening before and The Plaine had two rooms for my parents and me with my wife and son. They allowed us to bring our dog after we told them we were responsible pet owners. Giles met us at the door and showed us around. The B&B is directly across from two pubs so there was food and... More

We stayed for 2 nights whilst doing our Christmas shopping in Bath. What a wonderful relaxing place to stay ! With great hosts, comfortable rooms, and a supply of fresh milk available for our room tea and coffee. Giles and his wife were very informative with great tips on the local area. We would also recommend that if staying here,... More
