From Saga we took the JR train to Takeo Onsen station. Just outside the station there is a red bus that will take you to the Ureshiro Spa area. For about 660 yen and 30 minutes get off at Kokaido stop. the lobby is beautiful, but the carpets are stained and the wear and tear shows in many areas. There... More

a very nice onsen hotel. We had a nice banquet kaiseki dinner; efficient serving staff and with our Japanese speaking guide, got to understand the different dishes served. The onsen furo (bath) was nice; private rooms at $15 per person were available for the shy or romantic ones. WI-FI in rooms. This area is known for its tea.

For Japanese travelers, mostly. The hotel is quite dated, but that's its charm. We stayed on the top floor with great view. The amenities cannot be compared to modern hotels but the two onsens make up for it. The onsen's products are very very good. You can actually feel the softer skin.
