We stayed here in August at the height of the summer. We requested a non-smoking room but were given a smoking room. For non-smokers this was entirely unacceptable. Whilst the lobby was quite lovely with views of the beach, our room was very dated. The furniture and bedding were quite old and the smell of smoke was quite intrusive. During... More

Karatsu is one of the last stops on the metroline from Fukuoka airport. The hotel rooms are clean. Since there are many rooms in different buildings there is variation. Due to scheduling of rooms, I was in two different rooms and 2 parts of the hotel. both rooms were entirely different as far as setup and look and feel. Both... More

This hotel did not live up to expectations. Rooms are dated and smell, especially the bathroom. Cleaning was not sufficient. While the BBQ near the pool was ok, dinner in the Japanese restaurant was a disaster: horrible service & poor food. Hotel personnel also make no efforts whatsoever to keep the beach area clean. The Japanese style common bath is... More

We stayed here and we were forced into a smoking room after booking a no smoking room! The price was far too high and nobody cared to try and help us. Avoid this hotel unless you want a miserable time in an old hotel.......................... Avoid!!!

We enjoyed our overnight stay at this hotel! We had a relaxing view of the sea, right from our hotel room. There's a glass-walled balcony which gave us a wide view of the sea as well as from the bathroom. We did not make a reservation but luckily, there were two rooms left unoccupied. We stayed in a Western-Japanese style... More

An elegant hotel though somewhat dated by American standards. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was included in our stay, and it is fantastic. It is traditional Japanese food with some Western breakfast items available. The fish soup and squid dumplings were very good. This hotel has both Western and traditional Japanese rooms. We stayed in a Western... More

This hotel is on the water and the view is outstanding. I stayed in the western style and Japanese style rooms and the Japanese style rooms were very nice...especially facing the water. However the full length windows in the western style rooms facing the water were also very nice. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in Japan... More

The Karatsu Seaside Hotel is a bit outside the downtown core, but is right on the beach (of course) and abuts the pine forest reserve. We had a beautiful room with full ocean views during a close brush from a typhoon, so it was quite exciting. It's a 20-30 minute walk into town -- very pleasant in good weather. We... More

This is a rather large seaside hotel, consisting of west (new) and east (old) wings. I stayed in the old wing. My sea view room is clean and quite spacious which can accommodate three beds (one large sofa bed) easily. The bath provisions are sufficient and complete. However, the room is of older style. My package includes breakfast and dinner,... More

Having read previous TA reviews and seeing that this resort was available on Japanican, we jumped on the opportunity to try it as an overnight excursion from our Fukuoka visit. Boy, we were right to come, despite the peak year-end seasonal crowd which meant that the hotel was quite busy. We were given an excellent seafront room #721 with a... More
