We chose this Ryokan for a more traditional experience and weren't disappointed. The rather remote location is beautiful, quite but also really easy to get to (the property is right next to the train station). The owners are so friendly and welcoming, and the onsen was a great relaxing experience for us. Spending a night in one of these establishments... More

We traveled down to Nanten En from Namba Osaka using the Nankai Koyaline. Despite the remote location in the mountainous valley, it was actually less than an hour train ride away, highly recommended Ryokan for the quiet surroundings (we can only hear the sound of birds and insects. We were so pampered the moment we step in to the Ryokan... More

I still call it a great stay despite the slightly off-putting smell of the room and the relatively tiny onsen. We had the top-up options of Kobe beef and abalone, which made the kaiseki so much more of an experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. The building and the garden are what make the stay special.

We booked this ryokan specifically because of the outdoor swimming pool (a rarity in Japan -it actually seems to be the only hotel with one in the whole of the Kansai region). The information we received at the time of booking said the swimming pool was only open ("in summer") and I naïvely assumed that our projected stay in late... More

We had the room on first floor. It has a mini garden outside. Do try their onsen. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. You will be given room slippers to wear, and they will keep your shoes for you. The next morning, you will see them at the entrance, for you to change into for going out. Very impressed!... More

My husband and I arrived at this ryokan after a long (cold) day at Koya san, and it was a perfect was to end our day! The staff is very warm and helpful, speaking enough English to get by. It's less than a five minute walk from the train stop, and very easy to find in this sweet little valley... More

Great service, nice ryokan in a very quite setting in rural Amami. Highly recommended.

This was an enjoyable trip to Nantenen. Will definitely come back! The view is breathtakingly gorgeous. Definitely great meal, onsen, garden...what is there more to ask for...complete peace.
