This is located about 40 minutes walk from the station and downtown, a bit inconvenient to get around. However, taxis are available. The dinner and breakfast were both very good. We had in-room onsen, it was kind of small. We had a two-tatami-room cottage, so large enough, but everything seemed old and kind of smelly. If you were looking for... More

It took me a while before I found a ryokan for 3 people. Before arriving at the ryokan, Yuto-san wrote to me to inquire about any dietary requirements that we have and our arrival details. Email correspondence with the ryokan was answered in a timely manner and the ryokan called a day before arrival to confirm our dietary requirements and... More

We were with 3 persons. Adults. From the Yufuin station we were picked up by the Hotel in a minibus. The welcome at Gettoan was warm and friendly. Our hostess Irina explained and showed us all the needed! She brought us to our private Ryokan. A nice place to be with a private Onsen. A lovely place between the trees... More

stayed in this ryokan for 2 nights - 25 to 27jan2015. the ryokan is a bit secluded & way off from the main attractions like lake kinrinko which is a 30minutes walk from yufuin eki (train station), along the shopping street yunotsubo to lake kinrinko 金麟湖. there is also no walking trails near the ryokan. we called the ryokan after... We stayed for a few nights recently in this semi-modern ryokan located in a quiet, secluded forest close to the main town of Yufuin - where most of the cafes, restaurants and shops are located. It takes only 5-6 minutes to arrive here by car from JR Yufuin station. The ryokan provides a pick up service from the train station... More

Yufuin is a town nestled in the valley overlooked by Mt Yufu. A fairly open valley, it is ringed by 2000m thickly forested mountains and is a picture perfect town in Eastern Kyushu. There are a great many places to stay in Yufuin as people come from all over Japan for their hot springs. Yufuin Gettoan is a deluxe ryokan... More

I visited Yufuin with my parents and they LOVED this modern-traditional Japanese ryokan. The room was super clean and tidy, just about right size for 3 adults, and we had our own private hot spring bath just outside the balcony. Hot spring is divided between women's and men's, not too big but not too small to relax your body. They... More

We stayed in the deluxe wing for one night and it was fantastic. The accommodation was excellent, the location was secluded and quiet in the mountains above the town. However, the highlight of the stay was definitely the food. One of the best Kaiseki meals I've ever had.

Would not hesitate to recommend it. Far from the cluttered tourist scene in the town of Yufuin itself --- you feel quite in the middle of a primeval forest. The only time in my life I was practically deafened by the sound of thousands of frogs in the nearby pond (but it's quiet indoors). The outdoor hotspring pools ('rotemburo') are... More

This ryokan is excellent. I cannot find any faults in it except that it's expensive. It's quiet, secluded, and the view from the hotel into the mountain is spectacular. The public onsen is relaxing and it has a beautiful view. We had a child with us and we stayed in the main house area (children are not allowed to enter... More
