Yoshidaya ryokan is a traditional style, Japanese accomodation in Zao Onsen. We stayed as a group of 5 friends in two rooms, one sleeping 3 and 2 in the other. The main aspect of our stay was the service. From the moment we walked in the front door until we were given parting gifts after our six nights, nothing was... More

Loved this ryokan. The owner was very helpful and spoke very good English. The room was large and very comfortable. It's very centrally located with lots of great restaurants around. The onsen is small but very welcoming. Wifi was free and available in our room. The ryokan was old but very clean, the stairs are steep and narrow. Would stay... More

A first time visiting on a winter trip to japan, had been communicating with the ryokan owner for the hotel package with ski and information about Zao. I enjoy the stay at here, with the warm welcome from the ryokan owner and bus stop pick up, at least I and my travel mate are not loss in the town with... More

I was our first visit to Zao and it's always a challenge finding a hotel which ticks all the boxes. We miss-hit on a few aspects with this hotel but, when considered with the tariff, I think it's a reasonable place. Personally, we will pay more for more next time. What we like about the hotel is that our room... More

We only stayed 3 nights in Zao onsen but will definitely stay here again when we come back. Unfortunately the weather was terrible on the mountain during our stay (of course it was beautiful the day we left) but from what we could see it would of been spectacular on a clear day. The ryokan was a bit of a... More

Loved the rooms, with tatamis and futon beds. Yukatas are provided, as well as slippers. Coffee/tea-making facilities in the rooms, as well as a fridge. There is an on-site private onsen, separate for men and women. The water is quite hot but you get used to it and it is very relaxing. The lady who owns the place is extremely... More

If you are going skiing in Zao Onsen Yoshidaya offers an excellent place to stay. The Japanese rooms are basic but clean, the building is old and a bit of a rabbit-warren, but this is more than made up by the friendly welcome from both English speaking and Japanese speaking personnel. As soon as I arrived I was given an... More

well positioned traditional ryokan style accommodation. Short walk to ski lifts and restaurants. Chigusa-san, the host, could not do enough for us and was also very helpful in sending our skis to the next destination by takkubin. Nice HOT onsen to soak in after a days skiing. Good drying room. I will definately go back next season.

We really enjoyed our stay in Zao Onsen and at Yoshidaya. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The owner speaks excellent English and was very helpful. There is an onsen on the premises, although I found the water too hot and couldn't bear to get into the pool. The outdoor public onsen at the top of the... More

Recently stayed here for one night with my wife and dog. Old building, but comfortable rooms and excellent bath. I think Zao Onsen is my favorite in Japan. Anyway, the owners are super friendly and speak English, highly recommended.
