If you like to experience authentic Japanese ambience, here is the place. Good complementary hotspring, very tasty traditional Japanese breakfast and great wooden buildings. The mini-library in the lounge is very interesting and highly recommended. Very helpful staff who speak fluent English.

This was part of travel plans to Kyoto Osaka. Our first experience with an onsen town and ryokan experience was back in 2009 when we visited Fujikawaguchiko (near Mt Fuji). This trip to Kinosaki and stay at Mikiya surpassed all expectations! We arrived at the train station at Kinosaki and was received by the bus transport representative and then onto... More

We stayed here as group of 6 in one huge room. Beautiful building with gorgeous lobby and stunning grounds. If you come by train there is a free shuttle bus from the station which drops you at the door. There was then a fantastic greeting by staff who whisked away our luggage and gave us a tour. Some of the... More

Rooms facing the gaeden may be less noisy. Meals, service, baths are not bad. If you like historical old buildings, go for it!

The dinner is so good that we totally cannot imagine. The room is big including 3 bedrooms, 1 living room and 1 toilet. The view from window is a big Japanese style garden. The assistant, maybe the shopkeeper or hotel owner, named Hiro, has excellent English ability, fluent, like native speaker. He told stories and origin of the food, and... More

Stayed here for three nights- outstanding place, really made the trip. It's a gorgeous immaculate roykan, we stayed in traditional rooms but I think you can request both. Their new hot bath is probably better than any other bath in the onsen town. Food was amazing- so much and varied each day. Service was outstanding. We had an English speaking... More

Stayed here for 1 night in end Nov last year. Great ryokan, v atmospheric and historical building plus very good service. We were upgraded to a suite that was featured in the website, hence the room was excellent and near perfection. However, the dinner (crab kaiseki) was way below our expectations. The crabs were not tasty / sweet at all... More
