My second time in Kinosaki; this hotel's further in, a bit away from the train station. However rooms are large, clean, and service is impeccable. It also has a chapel and outdoor pool (only open in summer). If you prefer privacy, they have some private onsen available for rental; you can rent it for like an hour and it would... More

My husband and I spend 2 nights at Kinosaki onsen : One in a small hotel in front of the river. The other was at Nishimuraya Shogetsutei. Before we checked into Nishimuraya, we received an email from Colin to arrange a pickup for us and check if we are allergic to any food. Because the hotel shuttle only stop at... More

For a westerner, this hotel experience was one of the highlights of our (second) trip to Japan! The ( private) onsen experience was the most memorable but so was the food. The manner in which it was served by the gracious and infomative ( English speaking) host was also a highlight. The hotel itself has a few 'westernised' rooms which... More

After sifting through wades of overpriced onsen deals in Kyoto, I settled on this gem of a property (in an absolute gem of a town) 150kms away! First things, Kinosakionsen is a really pleasant town to spend a couple of nights in. And if your idea of relaxation is immersing yourself in boiling hot water, then you can always stay... More

Great place . We loved it . The room had a private onsen as well and that offered great privacy and was a saver . They served a japanese meal in the room which went on for two hours . They had cycles which we used to cycle around this quaint japanese town It is a definite must do

We went to Kinosaki for a few days to get a traditional version of Japan, we got the ryokan with private hot springs so we could enjoy the benefit of hot springs without being separate and in room dining, I've never had an experience like it and it was fabulous!!! The staff were amazing, rearranging the room and fixing our... More

We found Kinosaki Onsen town in the Lonely Planet Japan guidebook. It was a place we both were looking forward to. The Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei should be proud of the wonderful staff and attention to detail that surpassed our expectations. We chose the dining inclusions. We were a bit hesitant as we both don't normally don't eat seafood. They took... More

This hotel, albeit a little pricey, has superb, spacious japanese-style rooms, a beautiful onsen (and a free pass for the 7 public onsen in Kinosaki). Service is impeccable. But the real surpise is the quality of the dinner we had, served in the room. Chef Etsunobu Takahashi is really a master of japanese cuisine, at same level of many of... More

This hotel has a very nice restaurant serving very nice meals, rooms are nicely decorated, hotel staff have nicely accommodated my request to have "no beef" meal and helped me transmitting my luggage to another ryokan. Strongly recommend for females traveling solo.
