This hotel, albeit a little pricey, has superb, spacious japanese-style rooms, a beautiful onsen (and a free pass for the 7 public onsen in Kinosaki). Service is impeccable. But the real surpise is the quality of the dinner we had, served in the room. Chef Etsunobu Takahashi is really a master of japanese cuisine, at same level of many of... More

This is the best hotel i have stayed in my previous trip to Japan! We have booked a traditional Japanese room for 6 persons for one night in this lovely hotel and all of us like it so much! the room is spacious and it comes with an open air onsen at the balcony! It was a very memorable experience... More

This hotel has a very nice restaurant serving very nice meals, rooms are nicely decorated, hotel staff have nicely accommodated my request to have "no beef" meal and helped me transmitting my luggage to another ryokan. Strongly recommend for females traveling solo.

When one of the front desk staff, offers to drive you to a restaurant so you make dinner in time, that about says it all. This is a real total immersion in the Japanese culture, very little English is spoken anywhere in town, and no signs in English so you are a little challenged. The hotel is wonderful, large rooms,... This was a fabulous visit we will always remember. The places were full in Kyoto, so we thought we'd spend our time in Kinosakionsen, just a two hour train ride north of Kyoto. (Onsen means hot springs, and Kinosakionsen is a special place that the Japanese have visited - since the Edo Period, I think - for their luxurious baths... More

We spent two nights in Kinosaki just to explore this charming onsen town. As this trip was to celebrate my hubby's birthday, I decided a treat was in store so I booked our first night in this property and it was nothing short of amazing. Looking at the Kinosaki online guide - http://www.kinosaki-spa.gr.jp/global/ - there is no way you can... More

Came for 2 days and impressed by the overall experience -food was great, complemented by attentive yet unintrusive service. Want to thank one of the managers Keiichuro Ikegami especially - our daughter fell ill and he personally drove us to the doctor, acted as translator ad stayed with us both at the doctor and the pharmacy. We are very grateful!

This hotel was a highlight of our holiday in Japan. The staff were incredibly friendly and super polite, and went out of their way to make you comfortable. The gentleman who brought our kaiseki dinner and rearranged our table and futon was fantastic...and the gentleman at the front of the hotel took us to the station himself after we had... More

My adult daughter who is living in Japan had heard about this wonderful hot spring town. I was still jet lagged from just arriving from N. America. This place was the cure. It is really magical and a walk back in time. Colin at the front desk worked hard to make our stay perfect long before we even arrived. He... More

My husband and I visited Nishimuraya Shogetsutei this June and enjoyed very much. We have been to quite a few other Onsen hotels and Nishimuraya's facilities are definitely outstanding. The Hotel is newly built (comparatively speaking) and it is located at the very end of the onsen town. They have a huge and cleverly designed garden, incorporated natural tall trees... More
