In April 2012 we returned for the fifth time to Nishimura-Ya Honkan in Kinosaki Onsen. We stayed for two nights in room 18 on the ground floor with a prime view over the beautiful internal garden. Previously we have stayed 3 times in room 22 which is on the second floor with a view of the gardens and the mountains.... More

absolutely amazing time. unique experience loaded with culture and top end Japanese hospitality. the dinner and breakfast was very good; and very filling - I still can't believe how much food they serve, be ready too eat a multi course meal. the garden is amazing, and oh so peaceful at night with the fresh cool breeze. wifi, and a computer... Nishimuraya Honkan is a 15 minute walk from the train station, however a shuttle is also provided. Whether you walk or take the shuttle, be sure to drop your luggage off at the building diagonally across the street from the train station (it is safe and legitimate). They will bring your luggage to your hotel. Upon checking into the hotel... More

We stayed two nights at Nishimuraya Honkan and it became the high point of our entire journey. Form the reception of picking us from the train station, checking into our room, two great dinners and two wonderful breakfasts, to the en-suite open air onsen.....we had a wonderful memory of this ryokan. The chef writes his menu of the day in... More

You will want for nothing when you stay here. For both of us, this was our first ryokan experience - and it was the highlight of our honeymoon. It's hard to imagine it could ever be topped. If you're looking for the perfect traditional ryokan experience, it's worth the indulgence!

If you have already been to magical Kinosaki, then you'll already know it as one of the best onsen towns in Japan, even if a little out of the way. To experience Kinosaki you need to pick a ryokan (hotel), don your yukata (robe) and geta (clogs) and clip-clop your way around the town's seven public onsen. This is best... More

We were astounded by this experience. First you should be aware that Kinosaki is a very small community, it is quite. The city revolves around the thermal baths as do the hotels. This hotel has very spacious and well appointed rooms. The service is impeccable as you would expect, warm but not casual. The food is AMAZING, we looked forward... More

It was out first time out in kinosaki and we were just so excited as the town was so quaint and beautiful. Definitely stroll around in your yukata and have a soak in all of the public onsens available. And buy sugi bee farm's yuzu honey (best citrus honey drink) Nishimuraya honkan is a gorgeous ryokan to stay in. Excellent... More

Our two-night stay at Nishimuraya Honkan was the experience of a lifetime. From the moment they greeted us at the train station, everyone at this traditional ryokan was wonderfully warm, friendly, and helpful. The public spaces were beautiful, but when we walked into the room we practically gasped at the gorgeous views of a glorious Japanese garden. Our room was... More
