Kinosaki is one of the famous onsen (hot spring) towns in Japan, located on the western Japan sea coast. Due to the mountains between Osaka/Kyoto and this area, it is not easy to get to, but there are direct trains from both cities. They will pick you up from the station, but you can also eaily walk (<10min). It is... More

I was getting lazy about writing reviews of Japan, until I received the email I have pasted below. It says it all! Kinosakionsen is a great town, the onsens are to be experienced, but it is the stay at this hotel that will absolutely make it! It is one of those experiences in life you won't forget. If you think... More

From start to finish, an adventure in service and attention. We in the West do not have people worry about where are shoes are or whether they are pointed in the right direction. But the bliss comes from the "onsen" hot spring and the ryokan's lay-out. We were fortunate to have our own outdoor bath which added a romantic touch.... More

This ryokan is a unique experience. It is beautiful, with a wonderful garden which can be admired from most (all ?) rooms. The kaiseki meals are among the most impressive meals I ever experienced (and I have a long experience, including many high level restaurants). It reaches a level of sophistication and variety that you hardly can imagine. And the... More

My sister and I stayed two nights at this ryokan and it was really a fantastic experience. Our room was really large (with additional space, shower, bath and a small onsen outside). The managers are very polite and helpful. We had a room attendant, a young girl, who served us the meals and helped us to put on the beautiful... More

We've been in Japan over 10 days, and it was our night at this amazing inn that has prompted me to not only register with TripAdvisor but also write this review. A brief survey of recent guest comments reveals a nearly unanimous vote of confidence, but I am also motivated to contrast my experience with the isolated and unfortunate guests... More

Quite simply one of the best places we have ever stayed. The food, the ambience, the room, the garden, the service, the spas; all fabulous beyond words. A little pricey but absolutely worth every penny.

I had high expectations of this ryokan due to the reviews here however was a little disappointed. General service was good but not excellent. Location is good for onsen hopping but next time would possibly stay at the train station end of the river. Dinner was fabulous, however they provided nothing for our 4yr old except rice and a plate,... More

I received absolutely fantastic service from the second I arrived to the second I left. This is a beautiful place in which to relax and lose yourself in "Japan-ness". Given a guided tour of the ryokan by the helpful, English speaking receptionist. The tatami mat room opened onto the beautiful Japanese garden. A very relaxed time sitting next to the... More
