I have known this property since I was a child and was looking forward to the opportunity to give it a try. It has always looked charmingly old fashioned from the outside but I think its glory days are long gone. I got a good deal at 40 pounds for the room, which as usual, would have been excellent value... More

We stayed over for one night after a day out near by. On first impressions this place looks good from the outside even on a rainy day. We paid £65.00 for a family room which is good value but you understand why once you arrive. This is an old building and is suffering with damp as would most buildings located... More

As you arrive your heart sinks, as the Hotel looks very, very shabby and in need of some serious TLC. Staff were abrupt (probably the nationality), but informative. Our room was in the extension, and was clean, although devoid of character, and really only suitable for a night stay. Breakfast was a buffet style, and served from 08.30 onwards, and... More

We stayed here last night as we were attending a wedding in Hindhead and this was recommended as being nearby. In it's day I'm sure this was a well run and popular hotel, but sadly, and possibly since the demise of passing traffic due to the Hindhead Tunnel, it has been allowed to decline, and the whole place, from what... In case you run out of space in Portsmouth you can easily spend your time here.A very nice and quiet place. Its a hotel, restaurant,Bar, Pub all put together. The room we have was 100%. !As we only spent one night there from dusk to dawn ,not much to say. Breakfast:Well,, this one was a bit poor and less than... More

My partner and I stayed here along with other family members as we were attending a wedding close by. I have to say, the pictures of the outside and the bedrooms are slightly misleading. They look grander in the pictures. In short, the whole hotel is in great need of general modernization. Despite my comments to follow, my stay was... More

Stunning views just across the road of the National Trust park, including The Devil's punchbowl.Booked fourposter but was told later that it was unavailable so gave discount/refund. The restaurant was OK. The breakfast was very good. The room had been recently decorated but the old windows were in dire need of cleaning. Overall the hotel, bar and restaurant was OK... More

After reading some reviews I apprehensive. The lessons I learnt: The price you pay this is still not good value per se. The corridors smell musty. The rooms are large but very poorly maintained (this is a pity as too size was big) Room was musty too Shower was held up by tape. Breakfast was adequate. Check in was just... More

Visted for the Goodwood Festival of Speed and chose the 4 poster bed for £75. Great location for Goodwood and also the fact it is right next to the dead end for the Devils Punch Bowl which has a stunning view - apparently when it is foggy it looks amazing covering the bottom of the valley. The bedroom was a... More
