Stayed here for one night as it was convenient to wedding venue. The room smelt very much of cigarette smoke, we went to reception & they immediately gave us a different room. We had room 303 which was not perfect but much more pleasant. Unfortunately at bedtime we discovered the mattress was rock hard, one bedside light was broken also... More

We recently stayed for a family wedding nearby. Location was ideal. Rooms were in a poor state of cleanliness, particularly bathrooms which had not been cleaned properly following previous guests departure e.g. used soap in shower, insufficient towels. In general the Hotel is in need of a complete refurbishment and modernisation programme. Staircase and corridors dirty, poor state of carpets,... More

Stayed for one night in July before a family wedding. There is a distinct smell of damp as you walk the corridors. The reception is tiny but does the job and the overall impression is a place in need to modernisation. The bar/restaurant has comfortable, big armchairs and the staff are very helpful and welcoming overall, although the lady in... More

The bed was like a plank of wood, The furniture was from the 30's. Dead flies and cobwebs to the windows. The grounds were like a rubbish tip. The fabric of the hotel looked neglected and generally the hotel looked as though it is about to be closed down and boarded up. Don't be fooled by the website photos. Staff... More

Recently stayed at this hotel when visiting family in area. we were only in overnight and for breakfast, that was enough! A broom is definitely needed outside, the entrance is drab and bedroom no better, could not open blinds for dirt and mould on windows. bed clean, breakfast fine, but place is in need of a lot of refurbishment and some... Only stayed for one night at this Hotel and thank God for that. I got to the Hotel at about 930 pm after a very busy day and was met by a very unhappy member of staff who made me feel about as welcome as a boil! the house made who helped me with an issue with rooms was very... More

Known this place forever used to be a disaster but now coming slowly good. The bar much better rooms still a little dated, food really quite good but unexciting. Give it a go the management are trying their best and it is definitely going to be very good soon

This was the Hotel we spent our wedding night in forty five years ago and this weekend the anniversary fell on the exact date so I booked us in . It is said one should never go back , on this occasion , how right that proved to be . The receptionist was curt and unhelpful. Our room ,303, was... More

We stayed here for one night for a friends wedding. The wedding was brilliant and the staff did a great job all evening. The room was large, although maybe a little dated. Unfortunately we were given a twin rather than the double that we had booked and the hotel was full so no chance of a swap. It was also... More

We were working in the area and stayed there for a week. The staff were very pleasant and the breakfast for £5 was very good value, though no marmalade!!! The room was clean and tidy with a shower over a bath. We only ate once in the restaurant in the evening as we had prior arrangements, but found the food... More
