Stayed over the weekend in the older part of the building - much the nicest. Pleasant room with a view on the garden. Very peaceful. Modern shower and traditional furniture. Very comfortable bed. A few bits and pieces to service. Pleasant dining room where we had a copious traditional English breakfast. Many places to sit dotted around the hotel. Recommended.

We are travelers from the States. Found this hotel by chance when the main motor way was backed up. Just needed a place to rest our heads, this hotel came up and luckily they had a room. This family run hotel/restaurant/bar was fabulous. Very unique, had several setting rooms which gives you that homey feeling. The service was amazing. We... More

Last night we celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary with 27 friends and family. The hotel was warm, welcoming and full of character. The staff were excellent and all worked so hard to make our evening very memorable. The dining room looked very impressive. The food was wonderful - so tasty and beautifully presented. The portions were very generous and all... More

Good food, clean room, friendly staff - nice place to stay. My only complaint was that I wasn't told where the "back door" was when trying to get out for my early morning run before the staff arrived. I had to do a bit of exploring to find it on the first morning. After that it was easy!

Although the food here is fab, the access for those with disabilities and in a wheelchair is almost non existent. There are several steps from the hall into the hotel itself and the ramp they bring out is illegal as the slope is much steeper than allowed. Such a shame, but I think that if they were reported to the... More

The location is good, food was so-so, or less, but the mattresses were quite awful. One was like a hammock, another had springs sticking in my back, so perhaps if they purchased new mattresses, and new (good quality) linen, then this place might make it too just above average. The WIFI in the newer part of the premise was totally... More

I am too local to stay at the Normanhurst, but am a frequent diner in their elegant restaurant. My latest visit was on New Year's Day, and again it was a traditional lunch - well served in a comfortable atmosphere. Owner Adele and her staff have maintained the friendly ambience established by her late father Len. High quality menu and... More

Lovely place and the staff could not do more for you. The staff make the place what it is, the breakfast is lovely, the rooms are beautiful in there own right and the place is very clean. The only down sides are the lack of parking this was a big issue as there are a lot of rooms and only... More

We parked the car at the back of the hotel - there is plenty of free parking, and a lovely garden to the rear, in addition to the spaces at the front. Staff pleasant and friendly. Also helpful, when we discovered we had no towels, they apologised and explained that a dryer had broken down, and the towels were almost... More
