We stayed 2 nights in Miya-jima at the Jukeiso. Yes, it is on the expensive side, but is worth it for the whole experience. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. The traditional Japanese breakfasts are amazing and substantial. While on the island, we highly recommend the cable car trip up to Mt Misen. I suffer mild vertigo,... More

Booked through internet, good shuttling services for and from the ferry pier, very nice Japanese style dinner, free access at all time to the common onsen, clean. It is of course much better to have a room with the view on the Torij and Temple. Try to warrant such room as it really gives the value to this Ryokan compared... More

I'm not sure why this place hasn't got great reviews. We loved Jukeiso! The location is the best on Miyajima.Tucked away from the busy town. Its has fabulous views of Torii Gate and Itsukushina shrine. The ryokan is small only 12 rooms. Our room was on the 3rd floor and had great views. Fabulous food incl oysters, shabu shabu ,sashimi.Nothing that... More

I recently stayed in the Jukeiso for two nights booking it through Japanese Guest House`s (Great Website). I have stayed in Ryokans`s before and if you are only going to stay in a Ryokan once on your trip to Japan and want the traditional Ryokan experience, then this IS NOT for you! On one hand the rooms were very spacious... More

My husband and I (unfortunately) decided to follow the advice of Lonely Planet and book a night at this magnificent island. As probably all tour guides will tell you, there is not much accommodation options to choose from and most of them are quite pricey. The Riokan Jukeiso is not an exception. If you (for some strange reason) decide to... More

Miyajima is very beautiful, and this ryokan is good value compared to other prices we saw in the island. The staff is kind and speaks English. They come to pick you up at the port (suggested if you have baggages), if you're lucky mr. Imoto will come and pick you up, and you will have good fun! It is a... More

Miyajima is a wonderful place to visit and Jukeiso is an excellent place to stay while doing so. The rooms are great, well maintained and with lot's of space. It is within walking distance of Itsukusima shrine and other attractions in the island. It might be complicated to get there without knowing the way, but people from the Hotel will... More

Spent one night here in September. Most of the accommodation on Miyajima is on the pricer side so you could hardly call it a cheap night's accommodation but it was good value for its location. As noted by others the ryokan is not particularly close to the ferry terminal so do take advantage of their free pick up/drop off service.... More

Staying on Miyajima is something to do as once the last ferries head back to the Japanese mainland finish, the island is really peaceful and quiet. We chose this traditional inn, or ryokan, because it appeared close to the sea. However, although it's visible from the boats as you approach the island, it's not overly easy to walk to. There... We stayed here for 1 night in June 08. We searched around for a place to say on Miyajima and were surprised as how expensive everything was. Most Ryokans were fully booked so we were offered this as our 3rd choice. Booked via Japanese Guesthouses website [--], which was friendly and helpful. The room was quite disappointing, all very old... More
