A beautifully traditional property just off the busy shopping street on Miyajima. We had booked several months in advance but even then they could not accommodate our preferred nights and due to our schedule we could stay here only for one night. Miyajima comes into its own after the hordes of day-trippers have left - if you come to Japan,... More

Just perfect. Located in a quiet street. The staff is particularly kind. Really a nice place to stay and very good value for money. Don't miss the meals : they are delicious and colorful. A genuine Ryokan, what else ?

This traditional ryokan is a bit tricky to find at first but once you have your bearings you appreciate just what a superb location you have chosen. Right in the heart of Miyajima's tourist hotspots. Close to the Tori gates, temples, shops and banks. You are about three mins walk to the waterfront. They have WiFi in very comfortable smallish... More

Miyajima is a Mecca for tourists, domestic and foreign. It's the kind of place someone wishing to avoid the tourism crush might be tempted to avoid. A quiet stay at Ryoso Yamaguchi gives this traveler the best of both worlds. The Ryoso will feed you authentic meals (or a hearty western breakfast if you prefer) but is away from the... More

The Japanese-style ryokan was about a 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Our room was very large, with bedding on the tatami floor, a low table with two "cheater" chairs, small TV, very good AC, a hot pot for heating water, free wifi, and an enclosed balcony. The room had a foyer that contained a sink, refrigerator and the... More

Incredible place, the rooms are really comfortable and the private onsen is really cool. From the moment you step in the owners make you feel right at home. The day after it was raining and we had to take a Ferry back to Miyajima, we asked if there was a taxi operating in the island to take us to the... More

Small basic ryokan close to famous 'Torri in the sea'. Efficiently organised (by one lady and an assistant in the restaurant) with less personal attention for guests (too busy?). We had a large room at the backside with private toilet and washbasin. No private shower, but both onsens could be locked for private use by families. Food is very good,... More

A wonderful experience. Great hospitality, accommodation, food, position in town. Can't be faulted on anything and to be recommended for a truly authentic ryokan experience. Easy to find just behind the main shopping street. Has a lovely couple of onsen which can be used privately by couples.

We stayed at Ryoso Kawaguchi for a night at the beginning of September. It was a really rainy couple of days and unfortunatley climbing on Mount Misen was forbidden due to the bad weather (still, the Momijidani park with its red bridges is well eorth a visit). On the bright side, we had Ryoso Kawaguchi with its beautifu traditional room... More
