Shinko and her son Teppei made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We stayed for 2 nights, and even though my wife does not eat meat or shellfish, they went to a lot of trouble to ensure that we were served superb food for breakfasts and dinners. I agree with others that the rooms are small, but... More

We arrived at the Yamaichi Bekkan mid afternoon. Shinko-san greated us with a wonderful smile and a helping hand. Miyajima island is a small island a 20 minute ferry ride from Hiroshima. The bekkan is a small bed and breakfast right across from the ferry terminal. You enter the bekkan into the restaurant and front desk. To the left in... More

I loved visiting Miyajima, an experience that was enhanced by my lovely stay at this wonderful ryokan. The welcome from Tippei and Shinko-san was wonderful and they both looked after me so well during my stay. The food was delicious and tailored to my tastes as I'm not a big fish or shellfish eater. The ryokan is so well located,... More

We loved staying on Miyajima - so much nicer than Hiroshima. What makes this ryokan so special is the owner, Shinko-San, who is delightful and incredibly welcoming. Our room was spacious and well equipped, though the shower was a little eccentric. We particularly enjoyed the delicious dinners in the restaurant downstairs. A lovely place.

One of the highlights of our trip! The ryokan is close to the ferry and the owner, her family and the staff were really lovely & friendly. We were treated like dear friends and it was like going to stay with your favourite giggley auntie. She was such a sweetheart. Always took time to ensure everyone was comfortable and had... More

Our wonderful weekend on Miyajima included two nights at this delightful ryokan. The owner, family and staff made us feel extremely welcome and we really enjoyed interacting with our hosts, especially at meal times. Breakfasts and dinners were terrific, especially the latter which bordered on a gourmet feast. Our traditional Japanese room was perfect with lovely views out to the... More

My sister and I stayed here for two nights and shared a Japanese style room which had fabulous views over the ocean. The location was perfect as it is right opposite the pier. The food was fit for a king. Breakfasts and dinners were a gastronomical delight and presentation of each dish was superb. The owner and her son are... More

Where to start. I guess on the positive side, the owner is nice. I arrived on the island at 6pm and she advised I go for to enjoy the sunset. I thought the outside was a disappointment but trusted the reviews on here and expected the rooms to be nice. First impression of the restaurant was bad (why oh why... More

Good Japanese style hotel with large rooms right by ferry terminal. Worth staying on the island as beautiful sunsets, things to see and Hiroshima not the most amazing city to be in. Hostess speaks good English and food was very tasty indeed if you like Japanese food. Oysters in this part of the world a revelation although always cooked
