Our wonderful weekend on Miyajima included two nights at this delightful ryokan. The owner, family and staff made us feel extremely welcome and we really enjoyed interacting with our hosts, especially at meal times. Breakfasts and dinners were terrific, especially the latter which bordered on a gourmet feast. Our traditional Japanese room was perfect with lovely views out to the... More

My sister and I stayed here for two nights and shared a Japanese style room which had fabulous views over the ocean. The location was perfect as it is right opposite the pier. The food was fit for a king. Breakfasts and dinners were a gastronomical delight and presentation of each dish was superb. The owner and her son are... More

Where to start. I guess on the positive side, the owner is nice. I arrived on the island at 6pm and she advised I go for to enjoy the sunset. I thought the outside was a disappointment but trusted the reviews on here and expected the rooms to be nice. First impression of the restaurant was bad (why oh why... More

Good Japanese style hotel with large rooms right by ferry terminal. Worth staying on the island as beautiful sunsets, things to see and Hiroshima not the most amazing city to be in. Hostess speaks good English and food was very tasty indeed if you like Japanese food. Oysters in this part of the world a revelation although always cooked

It is definetly worth to overnight on the Island to enjoy the shine once the crowd leaves in the evening and before eveybody wakes up in the morning. But is even better if you stay at Yamaichi Bekkan. The owner is just the most friendly person ever (she really was like a mum to us) food is amazing and rooms... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Yamaichi Bekkan. It is close to the ferry terminal so we could drop our bags off nice and early. It is also close to all the attractions. The staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were ell kept and spacious with an awesome view across the ferry terminal and across the sea. With it... More

This was our first ryokan experience in Japan and it really set the bar high. Whilst you will not find 5 star quality and luxury you will experience value for money and one of the friendliest stays in Japan. Location is ideal, directly across from the ferry terminal and a short walk to the shrine and shops/restaurants. The owner is... More

Location is perfect. You step up the JR Line Cruise (inclusive in the Japan Rail Pass) and it is the first hotel you find. Perfect situation, 7 Minutes from the Mijayima Tori or the main Mijayima Street. Rooms with Sea-port view. As I arrived (early morning) they were renewing the Restaurant. The owner appeared after a few seconds, and showed... More

This was my 2nd tasting of a traditional "ryokan experience" (my first one having been in Takayama in 2008) and as I was taking my dad to Japan for the first time I wanted him to try it. Even with the high standards I have come to expect, Yamaichi Bekkan did not disappoint. The room was beautiful, a very large... More

- Perfect location just in front of the harbour, but very quiet. - Very friendly and welcoming staff. The lady tenant speaks good english. - The japanese style rooms are just perfect and very comfy. - I recommend to have dinner at Yamaichi Bekkan. There is not a lot of open restaurants at night in Miyajima. Moreover the food is... More
