facilities seem rather new, location is good very close to the great tori and its shrine. i appreciate the pick up from the pier service, the ten-course meal was amazing but the breakfast the next day was disappointing, tasteless and cold. The two springs were ok but do not expect if there's any view or amazing decor. The most disappointing... More

Tucked in one of the quiet streets of Miyajima but still providing quick access to the bustling touristy areas, this hotel provides a breathing space for weary visitors. Our Japanese-style room with tatami mats was the best place for an afternoon nap and also provided a good night’s sleep as the futons were comfortable. It also helps that there is... More

Overall rating: 3-1/2 stars The staff at Kikunoya are friendly and attentive. They will pick you up and drop you off at the ferry dock. The rooms vary greatly in size, furnishings, and views. Ours wasn't so great: the western-style furnishings were frumpy and a bit worn, and the view was very ordinary. The public bath was OK (one indoors,... More

I stayed for 2 nights in June. I lost a handmade silver earring in the room, which was quite dear to me. I showed the remaining one to staff at the reception, leaving my address in case their cleaning staff might come across the missing one. Communication is a bit hard in English, but the staff member took a photo... More

There is no shower in the rooms just a toilet. The hotel has a typical public Onsen, one for each gender. This is the communal bathing facility. This was my first experience of this and was great after I had over come a little shyness. Room size is fine, everything you need. I looked through the doors of some of... More

I was not sure what to expect from a Ryokan, having never stayed in one before. Now I would opt for them out of choice. Kikunoya was beautiful inside and the staff were very friendly, although you should not expect them all to speak English. I arrived on the last ferry (2242 from the mainland) and called the hotel. Normally... More

Our room was very spacious and comfortable, and we had a good view of the Torii gate. We got the Japanese styled tatami room, which was pricier, but it was worth it. The service was excellent, we called the hotel to pick us up and the hotel manager personally came to drive us. We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and breakfast;... More

The staff at this hotel is very friendly and helpful. We arrived after dark and were staying just one night so we had to visit the village after checkout and they were very helpful in keeping our luggage for us while we walked around. Breakfast was very good. The Japanese baths are a great way to relax and I strongly... More

Great hotel on an island better to be devoured without tourist. Rooms: clean, good enough if you travel with backpacks. ! Rooms have only a toilet, you will have to shower in a public japanese bath on the 1st floor, but don't worry the experience is worth it! The staff is very friendly, the switched the outside illumination on for... More

We had a great stay at the Hotel Kikunoya. The pick-up at the ferry terminal was within minutes and the staff was very, very polite and friendly. The room was small but clean with sink and toilet. There was no shower in the room-and it is the first time that I would say this was good :-) We went to the... More
