We have travelled around the world and stayed in many locations across Japan and it is fair to say that the Watanabe Inn is simply the best ryokan we have ever stayed in. The owners are friendly and extremely helpful, offering any amount of assistance to enhance your stay, the accommodation is first class with beautiful rooms and the service... More

We stayed as a couple for 2 nights in July 2015. This was the ultimate stay for us on our trip and perhaps any trip we have been on in our lives. In staying here we hit (and possibly broke through) the heights of hospitality, food, comfort and relaxation. The rooms are a work of art in themselves. We stayed... More

I have stayed at this Ryokan several times now and the friendliness, service and hospitality of this family run business is what keeps bringing me back for more. Breakfast and dinner has been included in my stay each time and the meals are explained in English. These wonderful people can not do enough to help you to make your stay... More

We have always wanted to visit Japan and wanted to experience a true Japanese cultural experience. We found it all at Watanabe Inn. When we booked this accommodation the owner kindly emailed us asking about our dietary requirements for our stay, we were also advised that when we arrived at the ferry terminal at Miyajima to call the Inn from... We stayed here in May for two nights - it was our second experience of a ryokan on our holiday and this was certainly a cut above the one in Hakone. As soon as we arrived we were given a warm welcome and tea and cake before our host showed us to our room and explained everything to us. It's... More

Staying at the Watanabe Inn, for most people, will be one of those once in a lifetime experiences. It begins with your host meeting you at the ferry stop, a quick ride to the Inn and you're brought to your room. Very traditional Japanese. If you have chosen correctly, you have a large bedroom/ dining area, a large soaking tub, and... More

We stayed here last July for 2 nights. Couldnt fault a thing! The family went totally above and beyond at all times. Such a pieceful location, running stream, next to the main temple. We chose to stay 2 nights in the island to avoid the crowds, and to enjoy some tranquility when the day trippers had gone home. Watanabe and... More

Owned by a local family who welcomed us with great hospitality, this ryokan offers a wonderful traditional Japanese experience. It is located right next to the Daisho-in temple, and 5 minutes from the Itsukushima Shrine. We had a gorgeous room with a private wooden bath and forest view. The food was above and beyond, and our hosts went out of... More

This is a truly hospitable little Ryokan and is right by the Daisho-in temple. Ask the tourist information to call Watanabe Inn on arrival at the port for a quick pick-up. Rooms here are spacious with beautiful views of the Daisho-In Temple and private wooden baths, complete with a magic “run bath” button! It is unusual to have a private... More

It was the most relaxing experience in Japan. The Ryokan was amazing. Delicious food and impecable presentation. The rooms were comfortable and exceptionally clean. Thank you to the Watanabe family for sharing their warmth and culture with us. Will definitely stay longer on my next visit.
