We went there during mid November last year and since the peak season for red leaves has finished, not many people staying in there, However, because of this reason, we can enjoy the facilities (both outdoor and indoor onsen) freely and quietly. Stayed for one night. Any onsen stay is not cheap and this was no exception. However when you analyse what you get i.e traditional Japanese ryokan accommodation, amazing top quality, traditional food and access to multiple onsen facilities, the price is easier to accept. This was our first outdoor Onsen experience and it was picture perfect with snow. It was an adventure getting here by train to Tozawako Station and then a wonderful bus ride through snowy landscapes to arrive at Ganbida. We were sorry to be only staying one night. My wife, toddler and mother-in-law stayed at the Ganiba Onsen for two nights in February 2010. Getting to the ryokan was surprisingly easy - we took the Komachi Shinkansen from Tokyo Station and were at Tazawa-ko station three hours later.
