My wife Allyson and I just got back from Costa Rica. El Castillo is a wonderfully amazing hotel. The view of the Pacific is outstanding from the lobby and all rooms. Especially from the large infinity pool. Scott and Russell were FANTASTIC hosts. They set us up with great things to do (mangrove nature boat tour to repelling down waterfalls).... More

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights in December 2014. It was a perfect location close to rainforests, beaches, waterfalls, and everything in between... if you can convince yourself to leave the hotel that is. The infinity pool with the perfect sunsets each night can't be beat. My husband and I splurged on a suite and it was... More

The view is breathtakingly beautiful. Peace and serenity surrounds you every step you take in the perimeter of the property. At night, if you walk around hotel or sit on the veranda, you'll hear the ocean waves slapping against the water. From our bed, we only have to turn our head to view the ocean and it seems to call... We just returned from a 3 night stay at the El Castillo and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is comfortable and charming with an attentive staff and engaging considerate owners. We were treated wonderfully throughout our stay and every request was attended to in a timely manner. They didn't shy away from accommodating our food changes as vegetarians and... More

If you have money to spend, if you do not afraid to travel in Central America, if you like slow path days, lying in a lounge in front of a pool, enjoy a cocktail and a picturesque view how the sea merges with the sky on the horizon, El Castillo is a perfect fit for you. We had a long... More

From the moment you walk in the door, you are treated like closest friends and family. Scott is an amazing host! Don't be at all surprised to sit at the bar with Scott and have one of the most enjoyable conversations that you have ever had. Of course the food is spectacular and the presentation is truly wonderful. Be sure... More

This review is for the restaurant only. The views and sunset were amazing. Tried the chicken parmesan on fettuccine noodles, it was fabulous. The sangria was also quite good. Attentive and friendly service as well. Definitely worth driving up the little hill to get there.

El Castillo was the start of our vacation and it couldn't have started better. What an amazing hotel. You want a 4x4 to get there (kinda difficult road to get up to), but once you are there, the experience is amazing. Scott (and the rest of the staff) is very helpful and friendly. We got an upgrade to the biggest... More

El Castillo's ambiance combines luxury with simplicity, charm, gourmet food and SCOTT...probably the best host in the south Pacific. Greeted with a hug and "where are you from?" Scott's interest in your stay at El Castillo never wanes - from a glass of wine with your evening meal to the fruit selection at breakfast the next morning. The lobby, restaurant... More
