My friend and I just spent the weekend in the Casona (big house) of the Finca del Carmen. The Casona is separate from the hotel. It is just as it sounds - a very spacious old Finca house still furnished as the owners furnished it decades ago. It is like stepping back in time. Our room was clean and spacious... More

A friend found this coffee finca online and it would be a semi-involved day of travel to get there. But we figured it would be cool. It was straightforward to get to on chicken buses. We got to the beautiful plantation and we were the only two scheduled for the tour (we called ahead). $5 for a 1hr tour of... More

A great & convenient place to stay just outside of Ataco town (5 mins walk away). We stayed in La Casona in a spacious and comfortable room with ensuite bath. The gardens and social areas are gorgeous and Dora the housekeeper was really lovely in helping us find our way around town. To be honest the only reason I am... More

We stayed at double bedroom in La Casona, our experience was wonderful, from the very first moment until the end, the house and location is beautiful, peaceful and full of charm, the personal was very friendly and always looking forward to make us feel good, the coffee tour that they offer was amazing and Santiago our guide was the best!... We stayed at a double bedroom in La Casona. Our experience was amazing. A house with all the charm of old times, but all the comfort of modern ones. Clean, comfortable and with lots of personality. At breakfast we met the owners, who are wonderful, warm and welcoming. They gave us many useful tips, on things to do in Ataco.... More

We stayed at Quinta El Carmen for 3 days right after New Years. It was absolutely amazing. The Alfaro family who owns the finca and is not being run by the 4th generation are very involved in running every aspect of the finca, and therefore they make sure their guests feel very welcome and the facilities are well-kept. We had... More

Just to sort out the basics, El Carmen Estate coffee plantation has TWO different places to stay; La Casona, which is the old plantation house, and Quinta El Carmen, which is a totally separate property, Confusingly, TripAdvisor has reviews of both places under one heading. Just to add to the confusion, NEITHER of the hotel venues is at Km 97... More

I had the pleasure of visiting Quinta El Carmen while with friends on Ataco. The coffee tour was really interesting, our tour guide was kind and answered to all our questions, and the surroundings were just beautiful. I toured the rooms which were old fashioned, but just right for the colonial feeling the property gives. Though I did not stay... More

For the first two days (midweek), we were the only guests. That probably contributes to a very quiet experience. Although we never saw nor heard them, apparently there were others who came up to Ataco on Friday night. The rooms are spread out over a large territory with beautiful surrounding grounds. This is essentially an old colonial house that has... More

I went there with some friends for a Yoga retreat.. The combination of nature's magnificent manifestation, the coziness of the Hacienda style architecture and the practice of yoga made my retreat a heavenly experience!!! The landscaping of the area is breathtaking as you get to witness the Salvadorian mountains and volcanos. The coffee tour and degustation is very informative and... More
