We stayed here for three nights whilst working in the area, during the summer. A v quiet, yet vintage inspired hotel, by iconic sixties prints, furniture and various knick knacks, but never sacrificing any home comforts. Small bedrooms but comfy beds, bright decor and quirky touches. The terrace is delightful for lunch or dinner. Outside hot tub will be lit... More

From the time I saw a private road leading to the property, I knew it would be what I want. Breathtaking views and amazing public spaces. This would be an ideal location to relax and saunter around to Gstaad and nearby places. Although I visited the place in summers, I am quite sure that it would be great for skiing... More

My family stayed in this hotel for three days in July 2014 and enjoyed every bit of it!!! Rooms very refurbished, clean and modern, not huge, but convenient with enough space to relax. Public spaces in the hotel are amazing, these include a bar, lounge area, room for billiard, table football and most importantly....Hot Tube!!! One of the evenings we... More

On our way to another resort, we decided to make a stopover somewhere in the Gstaad skiing area, and we had found the Saanenwald Lodge on the internet. My wife and I arrived mid-February for a night stay only. I wish we had more time to spend there, because we loved it! First of all, the location is marvelous. A... More

My wife and I booked at Saanenwald Lodge in January 2014. Honestly we were blown away by everything the hotel had to offer. From the design of the rooms, the friendliest staff, great food, best ski-in ski-out location and the fun air mattress outside, the lodge far exceeded any of our expectations. Our room was small but cleverly designed to... More

We spent two nights at this lodge/hotel. They have done a wonderful job redecorating to give it the retro 60's feel, but updated and new. The photos are a bit deceptive as we expected a balcony off the rooms, but there is only a shared balcony. It is nice and peaceful, however. Not many people were using it when we... More

The management will let you know that the lodge is "simple and imperfect" and they won't change their state of mind. Don't be afraid of the narrow road...you are not lost...and don't trust your first impression (from outside the lodge might looks a bit too "simple") because it will change as soon as you will get inside the building! From... More

We came to eat to the restaurant with my friends. I would like to note that the restaurant staff was very friendly and though the menu was VERY small, we ordered cheese fondu. I think it was one of the best fondues in my life. First of all I liked the bread, it was something special. Usually you get kind... More

From the start to the end of our trip, this place was amazing. The staff were incredible, and went well out of their way to make sure we had a good time. This included picking us up and dropping us off at the train station, tweaking their menu to allow for our fussy eating (no meat for one of us... More

We stayed at Saanewald Lodge last February and returned again this year for another great weekend. This time we chose a room with a valley view. The room itself was about the same size, but with the advantage that the en-suite bathroom is considerably larger than the glass cube partitioned bathroom in the forest view room. The standard of food... More
