This was a somewhat eclectic experience for us. We found the place and booked online through the excellent myokokogen.net site which was straightforward and simple. The location was really great and overall we were happy with our stay. The owners are very friendly and both of them were keen to help out however they could. The rooms are tidy enough... More

We loved our stay here! The family that owns the hotel went well beyond their way to make sure we had everything we needed and more so. I had an accident and broke my thumb and the owners sister drove me to the hospital and waited there until I was done to take me back again. They also knocked on... More

We've just returned from 10 nights at The Central. We've spent a lot of time in Japan so are accustomed to the amazing local hospitality, but this was on another level. Nothing was too much trouble. Whether it was driving us to the supermarket or the hospital, to showering our little one with gifts, the owners and staff were incredible.... More

Our family of 5 stayed at Akakura Hotel Central in January, and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. There are two English speaking staff at the hotel during the ski season - Fred from Sweden and Dan from Australia – and they showed us all the facilities of the hotel. They certainly made our... Loved it! There's something about this hotel that just feels good. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. However, if you are looking for fancy this isn't for you. The family who runs the hotel will go out of their way to make you happy. Even distributing sake in the foyer in the afternoon (it's a great place to... More

The hotel is in a great location for ski in/ski out and the staff here were super friendly and helpful. The room he had was very big with a little Japanese style sitting room in it. We had our own toilet as well but from what we could gather, there are no (or very few) rooms with bathrooms and everyone... More

A good place to stay for a ski trip - no more than a ten metre walk and you are skiing. There's wifi in the lounge but not in the rooms - but in a way this is an advantage as people hung out in the lounge area chatting rather than holed up in their bedroom looking at a screen.... More

We stayed in the Central for 7 nights across New Year and had a great time due to the almost ski-in-out location, the generous size of the Japanese-style rooms and most importantly, the overwhelmingly generous and helpful nature of the people that own and operate it - the Kitamura's and their staff. They will go to extraordinary lengths to ensure... More

Stayed here for a few nights during our ski holiday. Hotel - Had the western room which had a shower: The rooms were basic but well kept and very comfortable, but compared to a japanese room its a lot smaller, we choose it due to shower facilities. In hind sight I would have opted for a japanese style room because... More

A group of of us stayed here for a snowboarding holiday and the thing that stands out about this hotel is the warmth and hospitality of the staff, nothing was too much trouble for this family run hotel. On one occasion they drove us all into town just just because one of our party expressed an interest in eating sushi... More
