We received a good welcome and were shown to our bedroom which was over the kitchen. Whilst it was a very nice room but he noise from the kitchen did not make for a peaceful stay and the smell of frying permeated into the room. Also the bar was very noisy which is not surprising as there is a campsite... More

Warning: if you arrive by day and walk into the Glenelg you might think you have made a mistake. The bar is dark and yes, some might say, the welcome is muted. But be reassured that once you walk into the restaurant by night, candle lit and romantic, and they assure you that your table awaits, you have walked into... More

From the warm welcome in the busy bar after our long journey up from London to leaving hugs from the sweet staff our long overdue return to Glenelg Inn didn't disappoint in the slightest. This Inn has the best cosy bar we've ever been in, just as well because there's wonderful fresh sea food and meat on the menu, live... More

My third visit to the Glenelg Inn and it's quaintness and charm remains. The food is excellent, the staff busy and helpful and the locals always ready for a friendly chat. Of course the local scenery and walks are incredible so this will not be my last visit to one of my favourite locations on the planet.

Stayed for 2 nights on tour of the West Highlands. The welcome was not rude as others have suggested but rather indifferent. The room itself was large and although old fashioned had a decent bed and shower. However TV did not work and when i asked why was told that it was too expensive to provide a TV in the... More

We arrived from the little community-owned turntable ferry from Skye - don't miss it! The bar was busy, the room was comfy with a huge bed and roll top bath. Dog enjoyed the chance to join us for a drink. We had a hot smoked salmon salad which was excellent, though the salad was very simple. Breakfast was very good... More

We thought we would have one luxurious stay as a treat on the first night of our journey but it was anything but that! There was absolutely no hospitality on our arrival or during our stay. We had to rely on the barman, who was a seasonal member of staff, to show us our room and to give us the... More

The building itself was lovely and well decorated, the surroundings were clean and fine for a table of 9 to eat lunch by the fire. The service was a huge let down, the waitress staff were unfriendly and verging on rude. I ordered a cheese board which came out with three tiny oatcake and no chutney and some apple slices,... More

I am seldom led to write a report for trip advisor and only do so in extreme circumstances of excellence or disappointment. Our visit to Glenelg this year was the latest of many over the last 15 years. During that time the Glenelg Inn has had three owners. The first was referred to in an article written by Bill Bryson... This Inn undersells and over-delivers. Our first impression was not great as we were walked through the bar to the back of the building and then up a steep, narrow staircase to a landing with two doors -- our room and another room. Once inside, though, we were pleased. The room (Room 4) was unpretentious but very comfortable and recently... More
