We stayed at this ryokan for two nights. It was our first time in Japan and thus the first experience in a ryokan and onsen. It was an amazing experience from the beginning to the end: the welcome-tea in the lobby, choosing a colorful yukata, being shown how to wear it, the enormous room (we stayed in the combined Western-Japanese... It is my best memory to have hot springs in Japan, hotel room is very nice and clean.Breakfast and dinner are very special for the foreigners,it is also tasty and yummy. You can feel the slow pace here and get away the tension life in the city.

I have visited this Ryokan for more than 5 times as my first experience there was totally beyond my experience and eventually brought me back again and again. Great experience From the design of Ryokan speaks the combination of old Japanese Ryokan history and evolution of new development. Around the cozy lobby, you see many little surprises from their decoration,... More

Uematsuya is not the nicest ryokan out there; the halls feel more like dorm halls, and the rooms are quiet and have nice views but are not well-appointed. Acceptable, but not great. However, the food is fantastic. Better than the food at many ryokans I've paid ¥20k+ for. They claim they are regularly featured in travel guides specializing in food,... More

Good rustic onsen, with public onsens around..good for walking around with many temples to explore.. Lives up to its name as Kamakura of Shinshu.. Joined a local tour to see flowers which included a tour of the outer lying temples.. Really great value.. Staff spoke English and gave very good information about the town.. Meals were good value, had a... More
