Firstly, let me say I do recommend the Kurobe Kanko Hotel. Despite giving it only an average rating, it's certainly a tidy, welcoming spot for spending the night before or the night after a trip along the Alpen Kurobe route. The hotel is at the foot of the eastern side of the route, and there is a highland bus which... More

When entering the hotel room you will not find any bed. The room quite spacious. There is a big table and a tatami table in the room. Later on the hotel staff will setup the tatami bed that is matras on the floor. The hotel provide dinner and breakfast for the guest in a very big hall with various japanesse... More

This is hands down the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and is especially poor by Japanese standards. The pictures were obviously taken some time ago as the room we stayed in was a far cry from the room we thought we were booking. The Tatami mats were old, stained and in several places there were cigarette burns despite... More

Good clean Japanese ryokan with helpful staff. Very convenient for access to the Alpine Route. Room price is a bit pricey but you pay for the location. Onsens (hot baths) are very good and relaxing especially after a long drive to the hotel or after the walk on the alpine route. The buffet breakfast and dinner are sumptuous with very... More

It is a small locally welcome hotel! Not the big establishment, so do not have high expectation. Thus the price is also quite reasonable. I love their idea for the guests to be able to try the 2 different type of onsen baths (the woody one and the stony one) on 2 different days. Both are interesting to us. The... More

This hotel was a gem for us in a few ways - it gave us direct access to the bus to Ogizawa to start the Alpine Route (around the corner at Onsenkyu), they transferred our bags all the way to Toyama for 1300 per bag and the staff were just so nice and helpful. The public baths were also excellent... More

This hotel has almost everything you need for the perfect experience. Positive : friendly helpful staff Lovely room Great to start hike, beside the omachi onsenkyu stop Will deliver your bags from the hotel so you can catch the first bus and beat the crowd. Great onsen. Negatives: Public bus only runs to 5pm so taxi is about 2500yen after... More

the hotel is a fantastic stopover after the alpine route. we went on low season, thus got very good deal with expedia. booked an 8 tatami room and got upgraded to a 10 tatami room. the room is very quiet and offers a tranquil view. very spacious and clean staff spoke very little english but they always wore a big... Location is quite far from Omachi, and lack of public transport to reach the place. Bus runs every hours until 1615 or 1715. The onsen resort area is quiet in the night. There are restaurant and convenience store nearby, but because it rained in the night I don't have a chance to visit them. Room in spacious, and there's breakfast... More

This is a great hotel to stay at before or after you complete the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. The hotel is set in tranquil surroundings and yet within two-minutes' walk of the Onsenkyo bus stop. Rooms are big and comfortable. Onsen has both indoor and outdoor pools, an outdoor cold tub and a sauna room. Souvenir shop carries a good... More
