This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel - the first time being about 6 years ago and not a lot has changed, in fact some things have got a lot worse. On arrival the manager was very friendly, showed us to our rooms etc and he was very pleasant and happy to help so it seemed like... More

This hotel is in a wonderful location overlooking the loch. We arrived late in the evening but were able to get a very nice dinner in the restaurant. The public areas of the hotel are very modern, bright and airy. The bedroom we had was quite dated, old-style furniture and a very small TV, though the bathroom was modern. However,... More

My Husband and I stayed here for three nights whilst exploring the highlands. The Hotel was a great base for visiting Eileen Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh, Isle of Skye, Plockton etc. We had a first floor front facing room with an amazing view. The room was a little tired but it was very clean and had the facilities we... More

This was a comfortable hotel. The rooms were of a good size, clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable. The corridors were decorated in a blue/green tartan - mot eye-catching. The food was good and there was plenty of choice. The hotel is situated near the bridge onto the Isle of Skye so it was easy to sight see.... More

Most of what I would say is covered in other reviews, our room was large and clean but the furniture was awful. Double room but 1 rather uncomfortable armchair and a backless seat for the dressing table. Bathroom clean as were towels, but very much a make do and mend look about it. No hot water initially but did eventually... More

Other than some outdated rooms, barely worth the reduced rate of £30 per person let night, the service was poor and food terrible. Staff at breakfast were rude, unhelpful and the bread burned. Evening food was for all disappointing and the veg options barely worth eating. What frustrates me is that despite all the negative reviews here, some of which... More

As a group from all over the UK we have two weeknds a year hillwalking in the highlands. We've stayed at many hotels and inns and so far as I can recall this is the first time that there was a unanimous view that it was excellent. The hotel had a real can do approach. The rooms are spacious, recently... More

We had originally booked into another hotel but the proprietor had to cancel our booking. They recommended the Balmacara. We had a room with a French window opening onto a terrace with views across the loch to the Isle of Skye. It was particularly beautiful on a clear September day. The dinner and breakfast was good and there was a... More

Having read the reviews I was pleasantly surprised with this pace. Our room was lovely and at the side of the hotel had a fabulous view. Manager seemed to do everything running here and there. Nice little bar and the food was good homemade fare. Very useful Spa shop next door.

The Blamacara was the 4th stop on our honeymoon around Scotland and we booked for 2 nights to give us time to explore the area and spend some time on the beautiful Isle of Skye. It proved to be a perfect base for us. The hotel itself is in a great position on the edge of a loch with stunning... More
