I was working in the area and due to my usual spot being unavailable I decided to try the Balmacara Hotel...should have read the other reviews on here first... At first I tried phoning several times over half an hour and had no answer so decided to drive to the hotel in person since it was just down the road... More

Booked here for 1 night in a single room, wish I hadn't hadn't. Yes it was a good price, but you can Travelodge / Premier Inn / Ibis for less and they are generally a lot better. The bed was as comfortable as a sack of spuds. The bathroom had mould in a lot of places. The walls were so... More

I remember this hotel from some years ago so we decided to stay here for one night on our trip round Scotland. Had to wait to check in for 15 mins as only one person was looking after the bar, restaurant and reception. Offered a menu to done inn and we chose to as it was getting late. Waited 55... More

Well what can I say, this is my second visit here this year and the hotel closes its doors for the season in a few days, but the staff and hotel are still on top form, very welcoming top food and smiles all around. I can say I will return next year for private visits and hopefully through my work... More

We stopped off here for a coffee on our way back from visiting the Isle of Skye. The bar was empty of customers. The room was freezing which matched the service from the icey bar maid. We ordered lemon meringue pie (came served with ice cream!!!) and coffee - neither where up to scratch!! Definitely will not stop off here... More

I've gone passed this place a few times on trips up to Scotland and on first look it does nt look that great (big T for tenants lager sign, next to a spar shop a few miles shy of the Skye bridge) but its actually pretty good. The hotel has a great location, with spectacular views of Loch Alsh and... More

Needed a well earned rest and had two days spare so ventured to Skye unannounced, silly move without reservations even in late summer. Had to leave the Island but chanced Balmacara which I had noticed when passing, lovely looking hotel and great setting. Lucky for me they had a spare room and after a warm welcome I was settled in.... More

Stayed here as part of a wedding party and was very let down by the poor service and very dated rooms. The food was very bad. We was told we could get into the room at 12:30pm but when we arrived none of the rooms were ready for us. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Thank you for your response. You made no comments relating to food or accomodation while with us.Availability for rooms is normally 3pm as we require time for housekeeping. In this case some rooms were made available early but not all as the hotel had been full the previous night. More

We have just returned from a holiday the highlands spending 4 nights in this hotel. We had a lovely time, the ground floor room we were in was very spacious and spotless. We had a balcony, with table and chairs, looking out over the loch and Skye. Ok the television was very small but we were not on holiday to... More
