We stayed at the Balmacara Mains Guesthouse for one night. Even though it was a constant downpour the view was still beautiful. Our room was clean, modern and roomy. No way to let air inside room unless you wanted the midgies to come in too! Breakfast was very nice with lots of options.

Beautiful B & B with stunning views. Warm welcome from the characterful Norman. Our room was stunning, beautifully kept with the added sun lounge to make the most of the views. WIFI limited in the room but staff kindly offered use of landline to book evening meal. Breakfast was delicious & we were reluctant to leave. Would highly recommend.

This was our second visit and it's still as good as ever although the people in the room next to us were extremely noisy which isn't the fault of the guesthouse. My main issue was the room was extremely warm, it was quite mild outside which wouldn't have helped. If you open the window the dreaded midges come swarming in... More

We stayed four nights at the Balmacara in August. It was a great base to explore the landscape, castles, and history of the Isle of Skye and surrounding Scottish Highlands. The rooms were outstanding and easily large enough for our 3 children, with views that were breathtaking. But, the breakfast and staff were the highlight! The staff provided great local... More

Firstly, we are well travelled and stay in some very nice hotels-the Balmacara blows them all out of the water! The staff are wonderful, and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are homely, and the breakfast is brilliant. The icing on the cake are the views. I have never had the pleasure of views like them from a window.... More

We stayed one night here during a guided tour of the Scottish Highlands and I was very impressed. While our guide (Best Scottish Tours) booked us in high quality accommodations everywhere we went, I had trouble with hard beds and bad, flat pillows in most places. However, the Balmacara Mains has good, comfy beds and new, fluffy pillows. The rooms... More

Balmacara Mains is a wannabe paradise on earth. And it gets close to being such: everything from the lovely location just on the beach of the loch surrounded by a verdant scenery to the comfy bedroom and modern facilities makes you dream. However, I feel that this "luxury guest house" as it calls itself is a bit pretentious.Scarce care was... More

Balmacara Mains is a B&B that feels more like a hotel. The location is lovely, quiet and right by the loch. There's not much within walking distance but we drove 15 mins (down very narrow roads) to Plockton for dinner. The guesthouse manager was very helpful, sorting out a problem with the key not working without any fuss and allowing... More

This is more of a hotel than guest house. We stayed in room 4 which had great views across the loch to the surrounding countryside. The room was a good size with a fantastically comfortable bed. The shower room was well equipped and warm. The breakfast was lovely with freshly brewed coffee that was strong and hot. Full cooked breakfast... More

Ideal place to rest your head with some wonderful locations nearby, Skye, Plockton, Applecross, and many more wonderful places to visit on the NW of Scotland. Clean, comfortable and a great breakfast. Highly recommended.
