Jinya is one of my favorite ryokans, traditional Japan-style hotel. It's near the center of Tokyo. Dishes are beautiful and delicious. If you go to Jinya, you will enjoy Washoku! Hot spring is wonderful and their hospitality is amazing. I experienced the extraordinary while I stayed there. Please try and go there sometimes.

I wish I could give the staff 6 stars for service. Mr. Ota helped us over the phone figure out what type of room & plan for our stay. Unbeknownst to me before we arrived, I found out that this was where the famous animator Miyake was inspired as a young boy for his loveable Totoro character. I had a... More

I stayed for one night, in October. Got to the hotel at about 8pm. Pros -Biggest room for the money, I've ever seen. -The onsens. Both the outdoor one and the inside one are pretty fantastic. -Traditional Japanse setting, down to every detail. -Again, the room. Insanely big and every accommodation you could ever think of. -The hotel grounds; immaculately... More

My finance' and I stayed at Jinya Aug 22-25, 2013. We are from Seatle, WA and we wanted to visit Kamakua for a few days before heading to Tokyo. Researching the internet, we found Jinya, an upscale high-end ryokan outside a big city, which catered to our preference. We didn't know how the stay would pan out, but judging from... More

Bottom line - expensive - not great value but a moderate end bona fide ryokan experience. Caters mainly to Japanese groups - especially weddings. No English speaking staff (at least on our visit). Billed as being a good option for an onsen experience relatively close to Tokyo. It is, indeed, easily accessible by JR on the Odakyu line. The inn... More

This was a wonderful anniversary night away. June 23, 2012 Let's start with Location: a short 70minute ride down the Odakyu line from Yoyogi-uehara. From there it is literally a 5 minute walk from the station which my wife and i did with our wheeled suitcases. we were also able to scout a few little shops and restuarants in town... More
