I cannot understand how anyone could possibly give this incredible place a rating less than the full five stars. We would give it six stars if possible. Sisters Chiara and Federica work hard with an excellent staff (esp. the man and woman who do the breakfast and also room cleaning) to provide seamless excellence as they bridge the joining of... The location is stunning, the building and grounds simply beautiful. The rooms are basic but perfectly functional and clean. There is a tiny bar that serves drinks and snacks, and the breakfast is good. There is an excellent restaurant on site called Hora Media (which I have reviewed separately) which is run independently of the hotel and saves you having... More

What an absolutely beautiful hotel and setting. Our room was in the cloisters and you really felt as if you had gone back in time. Breakfast very good. Stayed three evenings and had lovely meals each evening, the host was very charming and welcoming. The setting is total unbelievable, so beautiful and it was very hard to leave. Definitely a... A beautiful isolated building, originally an abbey, but now a hotel with good views across the valley, including to the remains of Umbriano, a village deserted in the 1930's. Small bar area serving local wines and snacks. Breakfast room with good range of food to eat at tables in sheltered area of lovely courtyard. No restaurant in hotel, but excellent... More

Location is perfectly romantic. Beautifull building with many rooms for relaxation, reading, watching tv. Cool corridors inside the abbey. The aerea is completely silent, just birds singing. The wide balcony-like grass terrace is stunning, with a row of deckchairs the valley and Most cheerfull and helpfull people.

For all of you out there seeking this "off the beaten path" experience - this is it!! This is a restored Abbey in a drop-dead gorgeous area of Southern Umbria; manicured grounds with wrought iron tables and chairs, and lots of lounge chairs to just sit and stare at the canyons surrounding the Abbazia and the abandoned castle across the... Four of us stayed here as part of a walking tour so our initial approach was on foot from the village below, passing through the most delightful scenery. The road curves and suddenly one sees the abbey, surrounded by green hills. Once past the entrance (incorporating reception and a bar), there is a huge expanse of lawn before passing through... This hotel will take some beating. We stayed for two nights, but would have liked to stay longer. It was such a beautiful setting, and the old Abbey buildings had been utilised very skilfully, to make a very comfortable hotel. The staff seemed genuinely pleased to welcome us, serving drinks on the large lawn overlooking the breathtaking view of the... More

Wow! What a truly amazing place. From the moment it comes into view till the moment you leave, the Abbey will take your breath away. Beauty and seclusion, peace, calm and tranquility are in abundance. The staff are always smiling and can't do enough for you. Beside the Abbey is an independent restaurant, the only place nearby to eat but... More

Wow! A truly amazing hotel set in a former monastery where the monks cells are now bedrooms. Our room had an entrance hall, en-suite shower room and views over the wooded valley towards a deserted hill top hamlet. The abbey has been sensitively restored with well maintained gardens and seating to relax. There is a small restaurant on site which... More
