Fantastic old ryokan, great staff and good food. Private baths available. One of the best ryokan we have visited in the last years. Worth the extra money. River view rooms was very nice. The ryokan has a lot of character.

Hida-Furakawa is quite small and not much to see. But, this hotel is the place we like to come again. The service is just too good... We got a welcome drink / cake. Lovely green tea. The dinner and breakfast was good. During dinner, a lady, who served us the dinner, suddenly came with a camera and took us a... More

This is an extemely good Japanese style hotel with hot springs. The location is nice and quiet and by a river with good view. The room is spacious with small bathroom but we spent our time using the hot spring anyway. The staff were very friendly and they could speak good English. The meals were superb & more than enough.... More

Chose this hotel in Hida primarily because it's a 160-year old heritage building. This ryokan has character, great service throughout, comprehensive facilities, and is within walking distance to major attractions in the city. Food is not lavish but good. Staff are very accommodating. Also love their lounge where you can freely use their massage chairs in a nice surrounding. Tip:... More

Yatsusankan is a lovely traditional Japanese inn (or ryokan) in rural Gifu prefecture. The town itself - Hidafurukawa - has much to commend itself, and there is plenty to see and do in the local area. It was also pleasantly fresh when compared to the oppressive summer heat of Tokyo and Osaka. About ten minutes by foot, it is possible... More

Yatsusan is an excellent ryokan in the very pleasant town of Furukawa. The ryokan is located beside the river which runs through town and is very convenient to the main sights. We were warmly welcomed. Our spacious and comfortable tatami room also had a sitting area with western armchairs looking out across the river to a temple and the distant... More

We stayed only one night, regrettably. Upon arrival, we were received warmly into a room where we were offered freshly brewed green tea and a Japanese snack. Our room was a typical Japanese tatami mat room (where they would lay out the futon mattresses for the night). Looking outside our window, we could see the river and swaying trees. The... More
