We stayed at an ocean view double room for 8,000 yen (incl.Tax) baring in mind that it was off season and the rooms are old my wife and I enjoyed our short stay here. Their big bath is worth a visit although your rooms have bath tubs too. The view was magnificent and the beach is so close by. I... More

This was the first bad experience we had at a hotel in Japan! Many problems with this place for a western traveler. We needed a place to stay while visiting the south IZU peninsula and Dogashima, and there were very few places to stay. We chose the Prince hotel because it has a name in Japan, however this blew away... More

The hotel itself is old and dirty, but good view and easy access to beach. The room is old carpet and two single beds. Which is small for couple. The pool is small as well and close at 17:00. No wifi. Not recommended.

I can confirm a previous review that my room did have a slightly "fishy" smell to it, the taxi drive into the downtown area is about $20, and that the hotel itself is a bit dated. Additional negatives are: (1) the hotel has no internet - not just no wifi, no internet period; (2) even cell coverage is spotty -... More

I booked this hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of September (after summer is 'officially' over in Japan, considering the calendar) and it was an amazing deal for less than 5,000 JPY/pers (no breakfast included, but that was not a problem for us). The hotel has a bit dated feeling, and some amenities are not so modern any longer... More

Overall the hotel is just okay. The hotel is very dated, but the location is right on the beach on top of a hill. ALL the rooms have a view of the ocean and beach, which is great. Our room was very large, especially for American standards, which had two beds and a Japanese style room too with futons. I... More

Despite the low rate we had from Rakuten travcel site, I could not feel any value for money with this hotel. It is located off town of Shimoda and beachfront. Our room had complete seaview, but it was the only positive about it. Partial refurbishements seemed to have been done but awkwardly. The room size was ok with a double... More

Having stayed here in March 2004 and thinking it was more like a ghost town with tacky decor, my second visit to this establishment for a family surfing holiday was much better. The weather was still very warm in September and the pool area was a great place for R&R (clean and manned by staff). Situated right on the beach,... More

Terrible place. It was like staying at the hotel in the movie 'The Shining' I know May is not the height of their season but to be virtually the only guests. The place may have been a Prince in the 70's but now a days its old and tired. Even though requesting a NON Smoking room the room smelt heavily... More

I have stayed at other Prince Hotels in Japan and they are much nicer. For the price I expected more. The rooms are dated, had a fish & smoke odor, but clean. We left the sliding door open all night. We thought a cruise boat had a larger bathroom. The positive is the wonderful ocean view and helpful staff. The... More
