A very warm welcome from our hosts Edward and Malcolm was given to us all. The accommodation was spotless - I stayed with my family in a large room for four in what used to be the old pig sty! It has been spotlessly refurbished. The food offered is lovely and certainly good value. The garden is great for relaxing... More

I can not recommend this accommodation enough from the warm welcome you receive the minute you arrive from Edward, Malcolm and Leo the dog to the beautiful accommodation and absolutely magnificent food. Myself and my husband were on a motorbike trip in Loire Valley and this was one of our best choices. I am a Vegetarian and Malcolm and Edward... More

Stayed for one night on a stopover & we were welcomed warmly (cold beer was immediately on offer). Accommodation was immaculate & very homely. Leo, the dog, was wonderful with our 14 month old son & Malcolm & Edward provided great company & amazing food. The communal eating set up may sound daunting, but is actually really laid back &... An overnight stop to break up the journey between Eurodisney and our home in the south west of France became an absolute pleasure thanks to the kindest of hospitality from Edward and Malcolm. Our 2 boys (aged 4 & 6) where equally well accommodated with juices, colouring, games and Leo the labrador. A super supper "en famille" was a lovely... More

Welcoming hospitality, food and accommodation. The location is peaceful and relaxing. The evening meal is made into a social occassion by Edward and Malcolm. The breakfast is also very good. It is a good location for touring the surrounding area. I would use this chambre d’hote again.

What a fantastic find Appleton's is. Malcolm and Edward are the perfect hosts with a very warm and friendly welcome, aperitifs before dinner, good wholesome and delicious homecooked food taken with your fellow guests and hosts, drinks included and much 'bon viveuer'. Having travelled around the world on many occasions, this is something special. Rooms are comfortable, with en-suite facilities,... More

We had been recomended to stay with Malcolm and Edward from some friends who had stayed last year, we had a warm welcolm with offers of tea or coffee or as we accepted a beer and a glass of chiled white wine as soon as we steped out of our car. Our room was the Rose Room on the first... More

My husband and I spent three nights at Appletons, while visiting La Brenne national park to bird watch. Edward and Malcolm who run this guest house are excellent hosts who made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Their evening meal is really excellent value too as Edward is a great cook. They grow their own produce so... More

Malcolm and Edward are the the kindest , most generous hosts that you could wish for. I stayed with them, along with my 11 year old daughter and our dog en route to Spain . We were made so welcome, stayed in a lovely room and had the most delicious home cooked food. We stayed again on our journey home... More
