The Mytton sits on a bend in the river Severn, opposite the gates to Attingham Park. It is less than 2 miles from the A5 and about 5 from the very centre of Shrewsbury. We have used it many times for lunch and it never disappoints. Food is varied and stylishly presented. We also held an event here (sadly a... More

The Mytton and Mermaid is a Grade 2 Listed Building on the banks of the River Severn at Atcham. The location is fabulous with extensive gardens to the front of the hotel, to the side overlooking the River Severn and directly opposite Attingham Park. Parking is more than adequate. The staff are busy serving food and drinks all day both... More

This hotel has an excellent restaurant - see separate review. Room quality is variable. Room 6 has barely enough room between the end of the bed and the bathroom wall to get past. A very noisy main road runs past the front of the hotel with heavy lorries and large quarry trucks passing from very early until late. Room 6... More

We had a room in the main house with a view of the river. It was beautiful, comfortable, quiet, with nice touches such as flavoured real coffee and cafetiere in room. The shower needed some stabilising. I think this place is perhaps a victim of its own success. It was very hot when we were here and we sat outside... More

At £20 a head for tough roast potatoes, vegetables cooked hours before serving and not very many of them, tough meat, starters and desserts which really didnt live up to their descriptions .... Service was pleasant but 6 meals for £120???? ...we won't be returning and certainly couldnt reccommend the Mytton and Mermaid to anyone.

I've given the hotel a VG in this review despite the number of criticisms that I'll go on to point out. Its biggest virtue by far is the setting followed by the staff and how polite friendly and professional they were. Let Down factors: Has often happens if you use these internet last minute late booking sites it appears they... More

I was booked into this hotel by my company for one night. It looks fabulous and is in a wonderful setting with grounds down to the river Severn. It was a hot afternoon. I was in a room in the courtyard and it was truly horrible. Despite the heat, the room was dark, cold and smelled damp. An electric fire... More

This is one of my favourite Hotels. The rooms in the older part of the building are my favourite although the staris can be a challenge. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food consistantly tasty and pleasing. I always enjpy eating here whether by the fire in the bar or in the dining room. Breakfasts are particularly tasty....
