We made our way here by train to Perpignan and then taxi to Ortaffa, through wonderful country full of food, much of which made it to the breakfast table. Lovely place, beautifully converted from the old chateau winery - comfortable and spacious, you can choose to be quiet on your own, or join in the conversation with other guests. Pascale... More

We spent 5 nights at the Chai Catalan and loved every minute. Beautiful bedroom and bathroom and lovely garden with pool. Very close to the coast and the Mountains, so excellent for exploring the area. Pascale also speaks very good english which is very helpful for those of us that are still trying to improve our French. 15 - 20... More

You could not wish for a friendlier stay with very helpful hosts. Breakfast in the garden in the sunshine under the trees was such a great start to the day.Our room was superb and the en-suite was the same. If we ever return to the area we would not consider staying anywhere else.

Chai Catalan was our last stop on a 2 week vacation. It was beautiful, peaceful and relaxing, a perfect ending to our trip. The room was very comfortable and luxuriously decorated, the garden was lovely, breakfast fresh and delicious with lots of local specialities. Having the pool was great especially in the heat of the summer and away from the... More

Spacious and comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated. Lovely breakfast served in the quiet, shady garden. Pascale and Tim are knowledgeable and helpful hosts. Our two small dogs were welcome. Pool refreshing after a day of excursions. Good restaurants in neighbouring villages. Wine country all around.

We spent a few nights here in June, taking a break on an otherwise busy holiday. It was the perfect place to relax for a few days. The host, Pascale, was very attentive and friendly without being intrusive in any way. Our room was very welcoming with a great ensuite shower room and a large, comfortable bed. The spacious communal... More

We had a wonderful stay at Chai Catalan. Built into the wall of the ancient town, the former winery has been beautifully remodeled and designed for guests with spacious rooms (we were in Grenache) and a large atrium decorated with interesting art. Very comfortable bed with luxurious bedding. The ensuite bathroom was a tiled work of art. The lovely French... More

My parents-in-law from New Zealand stayed there with us and everybody really loved it! The host speaks perfect English, the restaurants she suggested were great as well and her breakfasts are the most amazing (fresh fruits, catalan delicacy, lovely conversations). Thank you for everything, Pascale, your place is amazing. We had a great time and we felt at home.

Thank you so much for your very kind review. It was a real pleasure to welcome you both and your parents in law to the Chai Catalan and our little corner of the world, especially as they had come from so far away. I am happy that we contributed in a small way to their discovery of this (beautiful of... More

My husband and I stayed at the Chai Catalan in May 2012 for a few days and fell in love with Pascale, our host, her property and the surrounding area. The Chai Catalan is in a quiet area of France, which we loved, and is positioned between easy drives to the beach or to the mountains. We were particularly drawn... More

I found Le Chai Catalan via Trip Advisor and it looked interesting and well located for the coast and city. The accommodation is purpose built and comfortable. Pascale is an excellent host, providing information and recommendations on nearby restaurants and facilities.Highly recommended!
