We found this near the base of the hiker's parking lot at Taos Mountain. We figured that it would be an average little ski mountain base place for drinks or a light meal. Boy, we're we surprised. The beer was cold and the food was excellent; way beyond expectations. We were there at off-ski season as we were hiking Williams's... More

The lodge is charming; the location is fantastic; the restaurant is good; the room was dated; and the bed was a brick. We literally used our air up camping mattresses under the sheet. We will return to the restaurant--but no more overnight stays.

I've stayed here in the off season only. I've eaten here during the ski season. Food is great; staff is great; location is fabulous, but I can't help but agreeing with some of the reviewers that it could be so much more. It needs to be spruced up -- it has a somewhat stale feeling.

As a resident of Taos, I have never had the occasion to stay here, but the restaurant is amazing. Sunny days mean the outside deck for lunch, even in January. The food is like being in Bavaria, wonderful brats, sauerkraut, spatzele, goulash, schnitzel, salads and amazing strudel. The beer is Spaten on tap, what is not to love? The views... More

The good: We had some beers after a hike and chilled. There were several people doing the same and most were eating a late lunch or early dinner outside. If the weather is warm it is really nice to look at the mountains and be outside. We ate dinner inside (we were staying at the lodge that evening) because it... More

If you are hiking Wheeler Peak spend a night and reward your legs with an easy stay over. We were only two people so we stayed in the Thomas suite. The room was clean and very large. We considered it a good value (they offer a made to order simple breakfast in the morning). The only thing to consider is... More

We just stayed in Building one. Ours was a 3BR and three couples went for a ski weekend. The chalet was very well appointed. They had everything we needed from laundry detergent and trash bags to coffee filters. It's the little things!! The beds were really comfortable and it was decorated really nice. I love the cabin / contemporary feel.... More

My family has decided to go skiing in Taos this coming Christmas, so I started my online research to find the perfect lodging location. Using Tripadvisor, The Bavarian Lodge looked like the perfect place. So I proceeded to book a room at The Bavarian during the Christmas week. I booked the room online using the online booking system provided at... More

We had dinner at the Bavarian Lodge but did not stay. We were transported back to our wonderful years in Germany! If everyone was speaking German and had dogs under the tables I could sworn we were back. The food was fantastic and the beer cold! The setting was so peaceful and authentic. Hope we can come back during ski... More

My husband's comment as we left the lodge was, "there's not a lot of love being shown at the Bavarian Lodge" This place could be such a jewel, but it sadly lacks the attention to detail that would make it so. We had wet carpet, broken jacuzzi, missing light bulbs, no mattress pad, pancake pillows and no one around to... More
