We went to the hotel for a Wedding and we stayed overnight afterwards with breakfast next morning. The hotel is a collection of oldish buildings so is not totally wheelchair or disabled friendly but the staff do try to help a lot. OK to split it up Food We had a Wedding Breakfast in the early afternoon and an evening... More

We'd arrived too early for the wedding fare today, so decided to have the breakfast first. This is served in the bar, not in the restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel really welcome. Our order was taken promptly by a very helpful member of staff. There wasn't a children's menu for breakfast, but when... More

We were invited to a relatives birthday party here recently. Never been before and would never go back or recommend. Food was very poor. I had salmon and melon starter, one tiny piece of salmon and melon was hard. Main course was roast beef which was ok except for hard carrots. The other people on our table had many complaints,... I called in for breakfast after a cycle ride. Given the lack of service when I arrived I got the impression it was rare and that most people there were guests. The Lounge Bar shows its age in terms of furniture and decor. I was eventually shown to a rather gloomy corner with a cramped table rather than one next... More

The food was well cooked, very large portions, and well presented but the vegetables were quite tasteless. (English roast). Wife had English breakfast - hard to go wrong though with that. Daughter had chicken skewers on rice - bland, no veges. Service was friendly. Ok for a basic warm meal on the road.

I booked this hotel as a last minute 1 night stopover due to work commitments nearby running over into a 2nd day. The reception staff were welcoming and with minimum fuss, I very quickly had my key to my room. The room was clean and tidy. All bathroom functions were in working order (although I had to run the cold... More

We stopped off here to have a drink after a hot day on the transpennine trail and decided to stay the night. The hotel receptionist was very helpful and recommended somewhere to store our cycles. Having done this we had that much needed drink. The hotel is attractive and the grounds well maintained. There is an outdoor area to sit... More

Booked our wedding here after coming for meals at restaurant on several occasions. Amazing wedding coordinator penny did anything we asked her to. Nothing was too much trouble. Amazing service off staff throughout the day. Rooms set out beautifully for ceremony wedding breakfast and reception. The food is beautiful. Never had a bad meal here. Will continue going back. Highly... More

Booked my wife and young daughter to stay the night at this place, as a treat I suggested she take along her mom and dad. I duly phoned the hotel, spoke to a young lady whw said she had a double room for my wife but would have to put the in-laws in 2 single rooms. OK I said gave... More
