Great traditional pub with a wonderful welcome and a great atmosphere. Sunday lunches are really good home cooked with loads of fresh vegetables. You can eat casually in the bar or choose the restaurant. There's a really pleasant beer garden when the sun shines. Tucked away in east allington well worth a visit

Myself, partner, in laws, Our little one and two dogs visited this lovely country pub whilst on holiday in Devon. We only decided to go here for an evening meal after reading good reviews in the visitors book in our cottage....Thanks heavens we did. It's a very unspoilt country pub with lovely well kept ales. The food was absolutely fantastic.... More

Stayed for Sunday lunch. Menu was great, service was great and the food was very tasty. Two lads behind the bar and who served us, were great! Perfect amount of food! If your nearby you should stop in :)

Great steak and accompaniments, good service and really pleasant atmosphere. Eight of us had a really good evening. The menu is simple, not over-complicated and food done very well. Service was efficient and friendly and we were all served at once. Will certainly return!

Ian and Adrian let us have sole use of the dining room for a dinner with 35 of our friends and family the night before our wedding. The food was lovely, the service friendly and efficient and we all had a lovely evening. Thanks very much for having us

Whilst camping nearby I was out running and passed the Fortescue Arms. That evening I returned for a drink with my family (Korev Cornish Lager). Noting the menu we returned on our last evening for dinner. The only disappointment was that they had sold out of the rather delicious - looking chicken pie, on which my wife had her eye,... More

Lovely pub, nestling in the heart of this sweet Devon village, which hasn't changed in fifty years. ( I was last here in 1968 at the age of eighteen and recently stumbled upon it again, as my husband and I meandered through the Devonshire countryside) Charming, warm, welcoming service, open fire, delightful locals. Cosy, cosy ambiance. Great place to relax... More

We couldn't get a table on a Saturday night so be sure to book ahead in peak season. However we returned midweek and had the restaurant to ourselves. The customer service was fantastic and the food was delicious. The portions were more than generous but we were able to take the uneaten pizza away in a box. The children were... More

Ate at this pub on Thursday evening. We were a large party of 14 including plenty of children. We had booked in advance and phoned our orders through our order the night before. We were in a pub lounge on our own and the pub itself was very welcoming an tastefully decorated. The service was friendly and attentive an even... More

We visited the Fortescue Arms on recommendation from the owner of the cottage we were staying at. He told us that the food was excellent and he was absolutely right. Our group chose from the regular menu, pizza menu and daily special board and all were excellent. We were made to feel very welcome, both by the pub staff and... More
