We rode on horseback here to have Sunday lunch and apart from being put in a strange little room at the back, we had an excellent meal. Horses enjoyed the attention in the car park and we liked the fact that the roast beef was pink and not burnt to a cinder, the veg were good and best of all... More

So attentive and the food and service was exceptional. Bar Snacks before lunch. Fresh Vegetables and nothing was too much trouble. Relaxed warm and friendly atmosphere. We have visited before and will certainly return. Greatly recommend this pub.

New owners provide excellent service. At last, a sensible chef who knows how to cook sensibly portioned, attractive plates of food. Perhaps I would like another beer on tap, but that's me! Lovely welcoming coal fire. Picturesque setting in shadow of church. Whilst not our local, shall be regular visitors. Highly recommend.

Saturday night and we were the only ones dining in the pub. Naturally we were therefore wondering if the food would be up to much. Those who had starters said the mushrooms and the sharing platters were fine and we just about covered the spectrum of mains. Fish & Chips, 2 curries, 2 lamb shanks, a spaghetti bolognese, a steak... Visited this lovely pub with family for Sunday lunch. The hosts were very welcoming offering delicious bar snacks and a warming fire for those colder days and nights. The lunch menu consists of three course but with the large portion size we all skipped out on dessert. The hosts accomadated a child in our group with a smaller portion of... More

We were staying at Flear Farm to celebrate our daughter's birthday and wanted somewhere to have dinner on the Saturday evening. Having read reviews of the Fortesque it seemed the ideal location. From the start of our enquiries to the end of the evening dinner everything went like clockwork. Adrian and Ian had laid out the dining room to accommodate... More

Stopped here for a quick bite to eat before checking into our holiday home in East Allington. Lovely friendly pub serving pub grub. I had the scampi and chips and my partner had the steak and ale pie and chips. Both meals were lovely and the excellent value. We would recommend if your staying in the area.

Local village pub but excellent menu and food . Friendly and a good range to the menus . Hidden away from the main area is salcombe but well worth the visit and the rooms are being refurbished here . Lots of local history and a good village feel . Well recommended

Stopped in for dinner mid week while staying in the village. Very "country pub" with real ale and very tasty meals. Staff were a delight and the food was well portioned and like home cooked. We all had something different and all very happy (even the vegetarian). Would definitely go back!
