The Durant Arms reopened following refurbishment on 8 March 2014 and deserves recommending for food, atmosphere and quality. Original flagstone floors have been restored. Log fires, one with a woodburner, entice neighbours, visitors, walkers, bikers and stretched out collies. Vintage jukebox in neighbouring room adds character and fun. New owners, Alan, Lesley and Chef Simon have firmly established themselves in... More

On our way back down to Cornwall after spending Christmas with relatives in the north of England, my wife and I decided to have a short break somewhere near to Totnes. I found the Durant Arms by an online search and booked three nights between Christmas and New Year. Unknown to us at the time of booking was that the... More

Visited with my wife, brother and his family. The new landlord has only been in since Dec 2013, with his son as the chef. The food was excellent and the pub has a very homely feel about it. We had the wild mushroom risotto, fish pie, steak kidney & otter ale pie, and apple crumble. All of which were delicious.... More

Pleasant hotel set in the very small village of Ashprington, about 10 minutes drive from Totnes. You will need a car or bike as very little public transport, no shops in the village. However the DA is a cosy place to stay, we stayed in a part outbuilding which looked a year or two old only. Limited WiFi and only... More

My cousins and I and our partners returned for another long weekend at the Durant Arms. Once again we were not dissapointed, except that they were not open for lunch on the Thursday we arrived. apart from that we had another fabulous stay, with Michael, Linda and Patrick doing everything they could to make us happy. Not forgetting Valerie who... More

Ashprington is a pretty Devonshire village mainly built on a slope, with St. David’s Church dominating the skyline. The Durant Arms is at one side of the central triangle to the village. We were welcomed warmly by the proprietor – and the 3 cats. Our comfortable bedroom was in the annex as we had a dog with us. We didn’t... More

After a very traumatic journey due to the narrow lanes of Devon, I came upon the most charming and quaint hotel I have ever stayed in! The Durant Arms is a step back in time and, for me, an Aussie, typically British...posted photos of this chocolate box place on Facebook and received lots of oohs and aaahs! The people who... More

Ashprington is a couple of miles down narrow country lanes from Totnes. The hotel is a typical country pub set in a picturesque village. We found it an ideal spot to use Totnes as a base for excursions (South Devon Railway, Round Robin cruise/train/bus, and mainline train along spectacular Dawlish coast. The hotel was very good, with friendly, helpful staff... More

We stayed for just one night but would most definitely go back again. We were made to feel very welcome, the rooms were comfortable, clean and well appointed. We ate in the restaurant and we were pleased with the standard of the food and the service. A little gem in the heart ofvthe Devon countryside.

Stayed for an overnight stop. A country inn located in a quiet village in a beautiful part of south Devon. Well off the beaten track. We were allocated a room on the first floor of the adjoining coach house. The coach house comprises three rooms and a communal kitchen/lounge area. Tea and coffee is provided in the communal kitchen and... More
