Had a wonderful stay in La Folie, where you've got a very special accommodation on an inimitable island. The staff were warm and personable and added extra value to the stay there. Highly recommended!

We spent 3 nights during the rainy season at this wonderful resort. Booking through the website was easy and replied/confirmed quickly. The rooms are quite spacious, very clean and cosy. Good air conditioning. No mosquitos. Free Wi-Fi at the restaurant. Very good selection of dishes for breakfast and lunch/dinner and tasteful food and drinks. Beautiful garden, clean pool with nice... This fabulous and quiet retreat on an island in the Mekong is a great place to lay back, visit local attractions, ride a bike through local villages or laze by the pool. Bungalows are comfortable and spacious with a large deck on which you can sit and contemplate the Mekong. The restaurant serves a mix of Laos and international foods,... More

We spent a fantastic 3 days at La Folie Lodge as part of our holiday in Laos in April 2014. The location on the island of Dong Daeng in the Mekong and the approach to it by boat are quite special and each room has a balcony with stunning river views. The swimming pool is lovely and great to cool... More

This is a very well thought-out and very well run hotel right on the banks of the Mekong. The individual villas, which are nicely spaced, have separate accommodation. The rooms are simply yet elegantly furnished and equipped with large terrace/balcony .I had dinner at the restaurant once night - very good service, good food, and although the prices are high... As soon as you are on the boat to cross the Mekong on your way to the island you know that you will get something different;the bungalows facing the Mekong and west oriented perfect for the sunset are very comfortable and ideal for a relaxing stay;the pool is big enough to swim and really enjoyable during a hot sunny day;the... Yes indeed, great location, great Folly, amazing structure and the simple thought of wanting to build such a hotel precisely on this island is awesome..... however, taking into consideration all costs and service, we came to the conclusion that it all is a bit of a rip off... so the rooms are around $160 per night, breakfast included. For this... More

Our expectations vere high - and we vere not disappointed. Our bungalow was well appointed - the staff was very accommodating - superbly supervised by Sarah Dane. We had a very nice cycle ride around the island, as well as an interesting visit to the Vat Phu in the middle of a festival.

On a lovely island in the Mekong with no cars this is a peaceful place to stay. You can borrow a bike and pedal around the island (hot work so take water). The bungalows seem mosquito-proof. The pool is lovely, the food good and the staff helpful. I would stay longer but it is not the best place when travelling... More

Stayed here during three days with our Cambodia-Laos group tour. Very remote location, only accessible by raft, supplied by the hotel, no problem at all. It takes about 10-15 minutes to cross the Mekong river on a comfortable wicker chair on a motorized raft. Hotel consist of a major building and on each side, left and right, I think 12... More
