During our stay, several large groups also stayed (maybe because of Chinese new year). They were so noisy from the early in the morning to mid night. For breakfast, little food was left after the group ate and the hotel staff did not add food. During the lunch time, the restaurant in the hotel was closed due to the large... More

There are limited options for hotels in Chiang Khong. I hired a car from Chiang Rai in order to do a visa run the following morning. The Mankhong Riverside Hotel was a nice clean place to spend the night. We got a room on the wing side looking up stream, great to just sit and watch the boats going up... More

In centre of town close to all restaurants and shops. Good place to stay pre / post crossing to /from Laos. Hotel can order tuk tuk / van. Rooms much improved in recent years and very comfortable. All seem to have good views over Mekong. Large dining room (didn't eat there). Staff could be a bit more cheerful.

This is a great hotel the friendly owner personal came down to help us with the choices on the menu and for once we had a decent meal the cook was great, a small tip goes a long way . Every thing was clean and the room was immaculate. The hotel has a reasonable bar but I found some more... More

Rock on - that was theme of this hotel. Well for me at least - this was the hardest bed AND pillow I have ever slept in. That's not a compliment. Not a good way to start out before a 2 day slow boat down the Mekong River. Food was average at best. As your choices are very limited here... More

There are limited options for hotels in Chiang Khong. We took a 6 hour bus ride from Chiang Mai in order to catch our Mekong River Cruise the following morning. The Mankhong Riverside Hotel was a nice clean place to spend the night. The front desk staff wasn't as friendly as the other hotels we stayed at in Thailand, but... More

The owner of this hotel was quite unfriendly from us, right from the start when we stepped into the hotel. Despite the 'Smile Chiangkhong' sign outside the hotel, the interior of this place and the quality of the staff do not match up to my expectations. They do not speak good english and the food at the restaurant is so... More

I stayed one night only (as I suspect do most people these days) while waiting to cross to Laos for a boat trip down the Mekong to Luang Prabang. The hotel was probably the largest in this frontier town and it was all that I expected. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, meals (I had a breakfast and dinner) were... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. Room has fabulous views and has everything you need. Restaurant had good food and same great views fron the terrace. Staff were really helpful setting up late night pick up from Chiang Rai airport with a reliable safe driver in good car with seatbelts.

Like most people, my fiance and I stayed for one night before heading across the border. The place was fine. It was clean. The bathroom was basic, but no weird smells or anything. Cold showers, though, as it seemed that our shower's water heater wasn't heating the water fast enough. It was the typical Asian style where the shower isn't... More
