Rock on - that was theme of this hotel. Well for me at least - this was the hardest bed AND pillow I have ever slept in. That's not a compliment. Not a good way to start out before a 2 day slow boat down the Mekong River. Food was average at best. As your choices are very limited here... More

There are limited options for hotels in Chiang Khong. We took a 6 hour bus ride from Chiang Mai in order to catch our Mekong River Cruise the following morning. The Mankhong Riverside Hotel was a nice clean place to spend the night. The front desk staff wasn't as friendly as the other hotels we stayed at in Thailand, but... More

The owner of this hotel was quite unfriendly from us, right from the start when we stepped into the hotel. Despite the 'Smile Chiangkhong' sign outside the hotel, the interior of this place and the quality of the staff do not match up to my expectations. They do not speak good english and the food at the restaurant is so... More

I stayed one night only (as I suspect do most people these days) while waiting to cross to Laos for a boat trip down the Mekong to Luang Prabang. The hotel was probably the largest in this frontier town and it was all that I expected. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, meals (I had a breakfast and dinner) were... More

We stayed here for 2 nights. Room has fabulous views and has everything you need. Restaurant had good food and same great views fron the terrace. Staff were really helpful setting up late night pick up from Chiang Rai airport with a reliable safe driver in good car with seatbelts.

Like most people, my fiance and I stayed for one night before heading across the border. The place was fine. It was clean. The bathroom was basic, but no weird smells or anything. Cold showers, though, as it seemed that our shower's water heater wasn't heating the water fast enough. It was the typical Asian style where the shower isn't... More

I stayed in this hotel for one night. My room had a river view with balcony. Not overly big, but did the job. Clean. Kettle provided, but no plug socket so had to put it on top of the wardrobe to boil. Views spectacular. A lot of steps to and from rooms, so not suitable for those who can't carry... More

The location is great & our room was clean & comfortable, which was great for the price, but I think it is a better hotel for local Thai than foreigners. The breakfast had no eggs & white bread for toast. We ended up eating just a piece of toast & jam. We love Thai food, but we were hoping for... More

We looked at the hotel rooms, they seemed okay, but we eventually decided on another hotel. However it's the restaurant I'd like to comment on. We asked to sit at a table overlooking the river. While a table was being cleared we picked up a menu to check dishes and prices. It was in Thai with English underneath. When we... More

Although they didn't speak great English, the staff seemed friendly enough. Think we got upgraded to river view room as had balcony. Room decent size with free water (had to pay for tea/coffee though). Bathroom was fine. Free wifi. Large, modern hotel which was well located to nearby pubs and restaurants (try Bamboo Mexican House for amazing bread). In between boat... More
