After eating rice and beans for many days - which is a privilege, it was amazing to eat food and receive the hospitality which was 1st class standard in a beautiful location. Seeing monkeys was a bonus.

I have been here 5 times and will keep going back. The property has beautiful gardens, cozy and warm cottages and common area's and friendly staff. I have never stayed in a cleaner place. The most important attraction is the peaceful atmosphere though. As soon as you drive in, you literally sigh a sigh of relief, relief from stress, mobile... More

I spent 4 nights at Rondo Retreat Centre and it was such a delightful experience, coming from the hectic city life. The Centre is situated in the Kakamega Forest and conveniently so for the activities they offer which include forest hikes. The cottages are a treat and the staff were exceptionally hospitable and helpful. The food is simple but very... More

The Rondo Retreat Center is the perfect place to get away from everything and enjoy nature. It sits on the edge of Kakamega Forest - the perfect place for bird watching. The rooms are dated but comfortable. We stayed in the original colonial house with our group and felt at home. The service is great with good, wholesome food. They... More

This is a beautiful setting in a rainforest. It was a welcome experience for us after being on a month long outreach program in very hot dusty areas. It's a good environment to rest, walk on the forest trails and see the birds. There were 3 kinds of monkeys playing all around. We enjoyed our time with Ben the birding... More

Rondo Retreat Centre consists of the wooden houses, which are spacious and nicely setup like colonial style with bedrooms and own shower and toilet. There are in the living rooms also fire places, which give nice atmosphere in the house. The house located at the edge of the rain forest, so in the morning and late afternoon nice to have... More

What a place! And what service we got! We stayed at Rondo for 2 nights during the Valentine weekend. We were 9 of us. Best place to go unwind and relax. The cozy bungalows. Each room had a special touch. We all fell in love with the place and promised will be back. Being vegetarian we always have issues with... More

Rondo was my 1st station during my Kenya Trip. After a short checkin the showed me my room. The room was in the cuckoo house and it was called EVA. The room was clean and and I had a view to the garden. The room has it's own bathroom but it is in a separate room. The next room had... More

This hotel is two star all day long but location is five star ! Basic but comfortable. I have stayed here twice and both times just for a couple evenings on a longer bird watching tour. There is no alcohol sold on the premises you can bring your own but... on both occasions I stayed here most of the other... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2015

My husband and I stayed here just after Christmas 2014 and found it to be a very relaxing place with good en-suite facilities and lovely grounds. Not only are the gardens well-maintained, but there are a few forest trails you can follow too. There is no choice of menu in the well-appointed dining-room but the service is excellent and "seconds"... More
