I stayed at the Merica for 5 nights with a group of 6 other women. We all were a bit concerned about the choice after reading reviews. Nakuru is a very busy city and is, to be blunt, not a place one would choose as a vacation destination. The Merica Hotel isn't a five-star hotel but we all were pleasantly... More

Somehow we ended up staying in downtown Nakuru for one night. I suppose it was to break up a long drive during our Safari. Upon pulling up, we were somewhat concerned for our safety. The front door is right at the street. Once inside, we realized that this was probably the nicest place in Nakuru. It had a great pool... More

The room I slept in was extremely hot, no air conditioner and no fans available. Was informed that air conditioners are only available in suites. Had to open windows at night, but it was extremely hot at night and that didn't help much I simply kept sweating till morning. January is obviously the hottest months locally. Breakfast was great and... More

We stayed here as part of an organised safari. we had to change rooms three times as the first room was so noisy, one could not hear. the second one had no hot water and the third..no hot water as well, but by then we were too tired to change again. The rooms are hot, have no fans, and no... More

The staff is outstanding, and make every effort to make your stay comfortable. However, could not get our flush repaired, or Hot water in the shower for three days. The best suite is on the first floor, on the road. Lorry and traffic noise levels are so high, it is difficult to sleep

I've stayed at four hotels in Nakuru (all for business) and I can say without a doubt that this is the worst. From the terrible internet that barely works (trust me, every other hotel at least has functional internet) to the rude staff to the barely functioning bathroom to the mediocre food...this is the kind of place where they consider... Do not expect too much and it will be ok! - rooms spacious and quite clean, but problems with bathroom facilities (loose toilets, sinks blocked, disappering towels etc) - take ear-plugs with you, it's quite noisy from early morning to the evening party-time - breakfast and dinner buffet below average, but fortunately safe to eat - the beauty parlor was... I stayed at the Merica in Jan 2011 and will be going back in the near future. I went with a group and we all had a great experience. The staff were extra friendly and helpful!! I loved the security and the safety of the place. This hotel was as expected to be in Nakuru, Kenya. Please remember where you... More

I stayed at the hotel for one night For a business function. My room was quite spacious but unfortunately the bathroom clearly showed signs of wear & tear especially the shower curtain railing which was rusted!!! expected also a small tube of shower gel/ lotion..that was missing. for around USD 50..per night that's not too much to ask in Nakuru. The location is quite noisy and could do with better noise insulation. The rooms were very dusty and the bathrooms are filthy! The staff were helpful though. The junior suite was noisy all night due kitchen extractor fan which sounded like a jet engine. A better altenative is to get an appartment which is bigger cleaner and cheaper. Its simply one to avoid... More
