Really enjoyed our stay! Breakfast was amazing. We stayed while travelling from Carlisle to hadrians wall. Would recommend to anyone. Made to feel really welcome, nice places locally for dinner but not on a Sunday night! Local bottled ales were a nice touch

Perfect location for walking Hadrian's Wall, this is a special place. An upmarket hostel, with really comfortable bunk beds. Well equipped, and great food provided by the host. And the only place we stayed that had a Scrabble set !

Eeee it was good, like sitting with an old friend at home, les is of the old school and likes a relaxing drink and a bit crack, I had walked the hardest part of the 84 miles along the wall and in need of food drink and relaxation, got the lot, taking my wife there for a couple of days to... More

My wife, son and I stayed here for one night (one double and one single room). My son and I were undertaking the Hadrian’s Cycleway over a total of four days and this was our third stop. A warm welcome from Les. There is off-road parking and the bikes were safely kept in a locked garage. A great location with... More

We arrived wet and weary at 6.30pm to a warm welcome, drying room and an offer to delay dinner until we were ready. The home cooked food was delicious and plentiful, just what was needed and a very welcome selection of loacl ale rounded it off beautifully. Breakfast sets you up for another day on the Wall. Les is lots... More

Ideal location for walking along this stretch of Hadrian’s Wall – it’s just across the road. We caught the bus down to the Twice Brewed Inn [£3.50 single – about 5 miles] and strolled back along the wall to The Old Repeater, stopping off on the way at the Roman fort visitors’ centre at Housesteads for a cuppa. The fort... More

Myself and Eva stayed with Les only one night, but it was very enjoyable, his s nice of humour and dry wit is great, we got such a lovely welcome, with a offer of a beer!! Heaven! It's a lovely basic relaxed place to stay, with a great sociable vibe, everyone sits in the living room with les popping in... More

It became quickly apparent by the time we got to Houseteads that we were not going to make Hexham by check in time. I rang and cancelled. But where to stay? We recalled hearing a guest at an earlier B&B mention a place a called The Old Repeater Station, and we found the website and booked from a mobile phone... More

Just a few hundred metres off Hadrian's Wall Pat this is a great little place. Landlord Les is a fun character, cheeky sense of humour, made us feel welcome. Six of us had our supper around the table together, walkers from Netherlands, New Zealand and us so plenty of interesting chat. He did loads of vegetables to go with our... More

I can't say too much about this place - perfect location for walkers - the bus even stops right outside, but it's still beautifully isolated with breathtaking views out of every window. The accommodation is cosy with everything you need, Les the host is a mine of information and great company - and an excellent cook, the meals (dinner and... More
