We were at Barcelo from Jan 24-Feb 1. I got sick on the second day and my boyfriend on the third day. Cramps, vomitting and diahrea that lasted about 24 hours. Stayed Jan. 22-30th. Like the recent reviews this place is very nice but they have a serious problem with sickness. Main topic around the pool was who was ill and for how long. If you are booked to go I would consider changing hotels. more

This is truly a half empty, half full resort. Like others have said, the grounds are beautiful as well as the rooms, but the staff are not friendly and 95% of our group of 100 got severely sick from either the food or some beverage. The illness lasted 5 to 48 hours. I will never stay there again and would highly recommend you do not either. more
