We loved our stay in Café chez Sam. The location, in a calm street, 100m away of the highway is excellent. The view on the river is extremly beautiful! You can spot whales from here. The staff was very kind, helpfull and they really make you feel at home. The rooms are a bit small, but it makes it really... More

Great little place just a couple of minute drive from the whale watching depot. Owners and staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. I would return there in a minute. We arrived rather late, but staff was willing to prepare dinner from the regular menu. While waiting for a table, we were able to order a bottle of wine to sip... More

Just off a 3-hour zodiac whale watching cruise we went in search for a quick bite. I remembered Trip Advisor had high ratings for Chez Sam so we headed there. Little did we know we wouldn't want to leave! The ambience, the fresh-picked home-grown and home-made foods, the eclectic feel of the whole inn, and the warmth of the hosts,... More

Chez Sam looks a bit touristy from the outside, with christmas lights and all, but behind that cheapish facade a fine restaurant is hidden! Pleasant atmosphere, and some really good home style cooking. Try the cassoulet, with wapiti and bison sausages. It's great! We had a nice (belgian) waiter as well. Alors, well recommended,

We recently (July/14) at Chez Sam and were rewarded with a great experience. We were in the area for whale-watching, just like everybody else. Chez Sam was a better option for us than staying in one of the many Tadoussac hotels across the river that cater to the whale-watching tourists. The home-cooked meals by Sonia were very tasty (note: limited... More

Booked this based on trip advisor reviews. This place is some thing very different. Bit like a B & B living in someone's home. We had a front bedroom with shower and toilet squeezed into the bedroom. All worked ok but would say its a one night stay place with hand luggage. Sonia is a perfect host and we ate... More

Charming little spot we happened upon after getting off the ferry. Very warm, welcoming and hospitable hosts (Sonia & Pierre?) who pour every ounce of passion they have into running this hotel/restaurant. Everything is very fresh and homemade - it literally tastes like food I'd be served at a good friend's place for a low-key but memorable dinner party. Great... More

We arrived at dinner time, to very friendly and accommodating staff, and the most delicious dinner (cassoulet) we had in our whole 10 day trip in Quebec - and a quaint room (our room did have a private washroom). In the morning we saw whales from breakfast! There is a pool table, lots of public spaces (sitting areas) and bonfires... More

If you prefer an individual experience to joining the tourists crowds, then forget Tadoussac and go to Baie Sainte Catherine instead! Just across the Saguenay river from Tadoussac, it's much smaller and quieter - and Café and Auberge Chez Sam are making it even more pleasant. Both the café and the B&B have a slightly improvised charm, everything is made... More

Well in this part there is not much choice. Is either them or cross the street and the other. Sam was cheaper, so the choice was easy. They basically do everything. - Receptionist ticked - Need to book whale watching tickets. They do that too ... ticked - Need something to eat, they do a restaurant. He serves, she cooks...... More
