We travelled with a 82 year old .Lovely small hotel. Clean rooms with no frills but very adequate, comfy beds, well fitted bathrooms. one had wet room and grip bars.and one a bath. Tranquil garden with pretty flowers and is just like the photos. Very friendly and very helpful staff. Easy walk down quite a steep road to the town.but this was... More

The hotel is a bit difficult to find but well worth it . Just read the signs as english sat nav gets confused! The plumbing may be old and the rooms compact but everything works. The evening meal we had was great and very friendly service. We even managed a swim in the pool unfortunately weather wasnt very good we... More

We paid €10 extra for a deluxe room with a bathtub but the tub was sized for a midget. The room was slightly larger than usual in a cheap French hotel. The garden is a pleasant place to sit and read, although there is a surprising amount of noise from traffic. When the weather is too wet or cool to... More

We stayed one night at this hotel, having read the recommendation in the "Rough Guide". Very small room, no air conditioning, tiles dropping off in bathroom, etc. Paid extra for garden view, a mistake as had to open the window and late diners were eating/chatting very loudly until midnight in the garden. Food okay but not special. Lots of dogs... More

Rooms were simple, no frills but clean and adequate; bathroom was fully equipped and pretty decent. Contrary to Ratiche's comment on having a gloomy room with a very small window, ours had 2 large windows and the room was bright and cheerful. And yes the TV was miniscule, but we did not have the time to turn it on. The... More

Hello. We lived on hotel le carmel for 10 days. The pool was small and the hotel rooms were small, and there were no aircondition. The hotel garden is very cosy, and the food is delicious. The hotel is situated in a small and cosy town. But pretty much far away from larger cities, airports, and tourist attractions. The staff... More

The courtyard and restaurant here is just fantastic! The hosts are very friendly and helpful and we felt so welcome and relaxed. The room is basic, but clean and perfectly fine. A great place near the village, so perfect for walking around. The pool and garden really make this a nice place to chill out and enjoy.

If you like mountains, forests, castles, grottes and gorges, the Ardeche is for you. If you want to stay in a hotel with character, style, faultless service from wonderful staff, exceptional food, and views across to the mountains while eating outside on a terrace with a fountain, stay in Le Carmel in the heart of Les Vans.
