We had vegetarian chilli & beef chilli, both described as "with rice", but both were doritos with grill melted cheese, no rice, no flavour, incredibly bland supermarket style so didnt bother with desserts even though those looked nice on display in bar area in 30's quaint cold cabinet. A complete waste of a calorie intake. Had WiFi but very unclear... More

2 steak & ale pies and a chicken & leek pies were all nice. Friendly atmosphere including welcome for 2 dogs. Beer was good too. Chocolate fudge cake and caramel apple pie finished it off a treat. Recommended.

Our double ensure room(4) was small cold and dirty with frayed towels a poor shower and a uncomfortable bed. There was mould all over the wall under the window, for the fitrst two nights until I asked them to clean it, which they did. The stair carpet was worm and filthy. Good food though and a lovely location. This place... More

Ok, so we're struggling to find a place to eat on a Monday 6pm and really don't want brewers fayre type stuff. Everywhere closed on a Monday around Hayle, so lets try portreath. Choice of two pubs with my 6 and 9 year old daughters and their grandad. We asked if they are doing food and the welcome was superb.... More

The food was fine, both evening meal & breakfast. However the room needs some serious TLC. It provided the basics for a comfortable night eg a reasonable bed, hot water & heating. The bathroom was pretty tatty & mouldy, & only soap provided. The carpet in the room wasn't especially clean but the stair carpet was filthy. We paid £65,... More

We quite often go for lunch here but we took two of our grandsons last week aged 2 and 3. We arrived at about 1:15 and received a very friendly welcome. The staff could not have been more helpful - asking the children what they would like and making sure they were happy. The youngest just had a plate and... More

Ok so we didn't stay here. We were in a holiday let nearby but the Portreath Arms felt like our second home. We went here every day for food and drink (mainly because the weather was awful!). Loved the place.

Always enjoy going to the Portreath Arms and the warm welcome you get whether you are an established local or on holiday. Food is back to its best with a good variety of both traditional and modern dishes, all priced to entice. I never seem to get to the puddings which look fantastic - unlike my wife and 16 year...
