This location was a last minute change in our itinerary, but became a highlight of our New Zealand trip. The drive up a narrow lane that wound to the top of a hill revealed a lovely house surrounded by manicured gardens with a vista of countryside and ocean all around. Our room was exquisite with fresh flowers, tea, porch and... More

We are glad you managed to change your itinerary and spend a night in Paradise with us. If you ever return "down under" we encourage you to stay longer and experience more of what this region has to offer. Cheers! Susan & Garth More

The Champagne Room (Honeymoon Suite) with a spa bath was superb. The Lodge is amazing, if a little remote. It's at the top of a hill from where there are fabulous views. Our hosts Susan and Garth were extremely welcoming, interesting and gave us lots of information about the area. We enjoyed free canapés and wine on the balcony with... More

Many thanks for your review. If NZ is somewhere you plan on visiting again in the future, we would love to have you stay longer. There is so much to experience in this region that one night just isn't long enough! Cheers! Susan & Garth More

My partner and I stayed at the lodge for one night just as a special treat to get away from Auckland for a night. We were blown away by the views, the rooms, and especially the food. We were unexpectedly asked to sit down with Susan and Garth for 'happy hour', where they provided drinks, scrumptious nibbles and very good... More

You can be sure of a really warm welcome from Susan and Garth. The room will be spotless and the lodge has everything you could need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Hi Roy We appreciate you taking the time out to write a review as we know how busy you are and thank you for the constructive feedback. Regarding the signage, we are trying to figure out a solution that will keep the neighbour happy as our guests drive through his property to get to the lodge and he already has... More

Susan did not miss a beat when we showed up early (1045AM) after our long flight from Los Angeles! Although she was hosting a business conference, provided us with a place to change into comfortable clothes, a cup of coffee, and suggestions for sightseeing and lunch. The view from the lodge is breathtaking. Lodge has a lovely swimming pool and... More

We had only one night here on the way from the Bay of Islands to the Coromandel. We wished we could have stayed longer. The lodge is for guests exclusive use as the hosts live next door. Susan greeted us, gave us drinks and a cheese plate and then left us to use the pool and to wander round the... More

Yes we refer to the property as our little "slice of Paradise". We figure it's a great description of the surroundings with no immediate neighbours and panoramic views over Matakana Valley. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to see you back here if and when you return to New Zealand sometime in the future. More

Warm welcome from Susan and Garth to their lovely accommodation on a hilltop in Matakana. Thanks for taking the time out to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed "Happy Hour" and the pancake breakfast, it is the second favourite with the guests - first being the traditional "Kiwi Breakfast" which is always served on a Sunday. You'll have to come back and sample my "Popeye" special, complete with spinach. A very healthy option. Nice... More

Thanks to a cancellation we got to spend 3 nights over New Years and then managed to extend a night by changing rooms. Susan and Garth made us so welcome we didn't want to leave.
