Our family of four stayed a night in unit 16 and found it perfect for what we wanted. The unit was spotless and quiet, while only a minutes walk into the centre of Matakana village. Managment were friendly and informed us they are in the process of upgrading the motel complex, this is evident with a new swimming pool. We... More

We had a queen studio - it was modern, spotless, lovely new bathroom, very comfortable, and quiet but handy location. Although we were well away from the road, we were able to walk straight through the back gate to the Matakana pub, and of course the rest of the village shopping was right there. They even offered a deal for... More

We had a two bedroom unit which was very spacious over two floors. Perfect as we had my baby niece with us. The unit was well equipped (esp the kitchen which was great), and we had a nice back balcony overlooking a paddock (lovely sun trap). The bedrooms especially are a little on the basic side, however, it was fit... More

We had a 2 bedroom at the back of the complex. Avoids road noise but you get the noise of noisy neighbours running up and down the stairs next door. The units are extremely basic but for a couple of nights we couldn't complain. The location is fab as you walk down a path and you are immediately in the... More

A very clean, tidy and well equipped Motel. The location is great just a few minutes walk to Matakana Village. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a very comfortable stay in our 2 brm unit.

We booked the Matakana House motel quite late on a Saturday evening as we were struggling to find places with availability. The motel is not cheap for what it is, is extremely basic and could certainly do with some modernisation- we were certainly expecting more given the write up in Lonely Planet. On the plus side the small town of... More

I was looking for a place to stay so my husband & I could both have a few drinks and dinner without taking the car out in Matakana. This place was perfect and just a short walk to the pub, restaurant, cinema and markets. Clean & tidy & the service was great. The heater had been put on in our... More

Stayed there as a base for a family wedding. Between us we had three units. All the units were clean and the staff went out of their way to prepare two of the rooms for an early arrival. Two of the three units were studios, one with single beds and the other with a queen. The third was a larger... More

Nice and tidy room. The staff are friendly and the hotel is well situated with very short walk through carpark to Matakana Pub or if you prefer, the markets on saturday or sunday morning. Great to stay if you're attending a wedding or other function but obviously its only a hotel so not an experience in itself.

We stayed over the weekend and found our studio to be great for what we needed, it was clean and spacious. The bed was firm but comfortable enough, the shower had great pressure too. Awesome location, you can walk to the main street for cafes, bars, the cinema and markets... The staff were friendly and more than willing to help... More
